New Jersey sportsbooks crossed the $1 billion mark in January, continuing a streak that has now lasted five months. Most of that action came through mobile apps, while retail locations contributed $35.2 million.
Despite the strong handle, revenue fell compared to last year. The Division of Gaming Enforcement reported $114.2 million in January earnings, down from $122.2 million in January 2025, 6.5% drop. The hold percentage from completed events stood at 10.7%, nearly identical to December’s results. Sports betting taxes added $23.9 million to state coffers.
FanDuel, DraftKings, and BetFanatics lead the way
January’s numbers show a clear gap between the top two operators and the rest of the New Jersey market. FanDuel stayed in front with $45.6 million, while DraftKings followed with $30.6 million.
Both saw revenue fall about 14% from the same month last year, but together they still made up nearly up 68% of total sportsbook revenue in the state.
BetFanatics was the only other operator to cross the $10 million mark, reporting $10.9 million, a sharp 61% jump year‑over‑year. Bet365 also posted strong growth, climbing to $7.3 million, which was a 51.5% increase compared to January 2025. BetMGM held steady with $7.6 million, almost unchanged from the year before.
5.9% increase in total gaming revenue
New Jersey’s gaming industry started the year on a high note, with total revenue climbing 5.9% to $586.4 million. That figure includes sports betting, iGaming, and slots and table games from Atlantic City’s nine casinos.
Online casinos drove most of the growth, bringing in $258.9 million. While strong, that number fell short of December’s all‑time monthly record of $273.2 million. Land‑based casino win stayed nearly flat, rising just 1.6%.
FanDuel and DraftKings once again dominated the online casino space. FanDuel Casino posted $58.9 million, an 18.5% jump from last year, while DraftKings Casino earned $48.6 million, up 10.3%.
