World Sports Betting Signs An Official Three-year Partnership With The Comrades Marathon

World Sports Betting has announced a move to officially sponsor the Comrades Marathon. The brand signed a three-year deal, making it the official sports betting partner of the famous ultramarathon. This collaboration spans from the 98th edition starting on June 8, 2025, running through to the centenary race in 2027.

The Comrades Marathon, often called the “Ultimate Human Race,” draws thousands of elite and amateur athletes worldwide. This 89km challenge between Pietermaritzburg and Durban is known to test the limits of endurance and character.

WSB’s involvement brings fresh energy and fan engagement to the historic race. The partnership marks a clear investment in South African endurance sports and the communities rallying behind them.

Boosting Runners on the Final Stretch

As part of its support, WSB will introduce a main moving activation in Westville, located 15km from the finish line. This section of the course is known for being one of the most mentally and physically demanding stretches. The company plans to create a high-energy support zone that lifts runners and spectators.

Furthermore, this space will feature crowd activations, branded entertainment, and emotional fuel for competitors as they enter the final push toward Durban.

Mqondisi Ngcobo, Chairperson of the Comrades Marathon Association, welcomed the new partnership.

“We are excited to have World Sports Betting on board. They will not only add immense value to our race-day activations, but their commitment to supporting iconic events aligns perfectly with the spirit of our ultramarathon,” he said on the official Comrades Marathon website.

A Proud South African Brand

Founded in 2002, World Sports Betting has become one of South Africa’s top sportsbooks. The brand is popular for its speed, customer service, and a deep connection to local sports, with a loyal user base nationwide.

Ryno Du Plessis, Chief Operating Officer at WSB, believes the partnership reflects the company’s values and long-term vision.

“As a proudly South African brand, it’s important for us to align with local sporting events that not only showcase exceptional talent, but also reflect the rich spirit, diversity, and heritage of our vibrant country, We believe in backing platforms that unite communities, celebrate local excellence, and inspire the next generation of champions,” he said.

This collaboration sets the tone for WSB’s involvement in major South African sports properties. The Comrades Marathon offers a unique opportunity to connect with passionate fans and athletes at all levels.

Eyes On The Centenary Race

This deal comes at a special time in the history of the Comrades Marathon. With the 100th edition on the horizon, momentum is building for a celebration to honour a century of running greatness.

WSB’s presence across the next three races is expected to bring more digital engagement and practical support for athletes and fans. From event activations on race day to community outreach, the partnership has the potential to grow the profile of both brands.

While runners enjoy extra motivation in key sections of the race, fans, are in for a more connected experience. This is another strong example of brands backing local excellence in South African sport. With this deal, WSB is betting big on national pride and the enduring power of sport to unite people. As the countdown to June 8 begins, the Comrades Marathon boasts a new partner on its road to 100 years.
