Security and surveillance technology specialist Synectics has completed the first deployment of its AI-powered Synergy Search product. The tool is designed to support rapid, natural-language searches across live and recorded video, including footage from large existing camera systems.
According to Synectics, this technology is available in an early access program as part of the most recent version of the proprietary Synergy platform. Further launches of this technology will take place later this year, but Synectics did not give information on the identity of the first customer or industry sector.
Search Footage Using Everyday Language
With Synergy Search, users can perform searches on a vast amount of video by simply employing ordinary language to identify the people, vehicles, objects, or actions that they are searching for. This technology is created with the purpose of finding relevant videos, which will save time during investigation.
According to Synectics, the process can reduce investigations that previously took hours or days to minutes. The system is intended to work with businesses’ existing camera installations, including environments with thousands of cameras.
The product’s potential applications include casinos and resorts, transport systems, stadiums and venues, public spaces, and critical infrastructure. Synectics also said the technology can assist with security, safety, and operational investigations across those environments.
Uses Across Casino Operations
In casinos, Synergy Search can be used to investigate suspected fraud, disputes, and regulatory incidents. The tool is intended to help operators locate relevant video footage more quickly when reviewing events across large surveillance networks.
Outside the casino sector, the company said police could use the technology to identify suspects, vehicles, and witnesses or reconstruct event timelines. Transport and critical infrastructure operators could also use it to examine security, safety, and operational incidents.
The company did not provide details about the first customer’s deployment or identify any specific investigation completed using the product. It said additional customer demonstrations and engagement were underway ahead of the wider launch.
Part Of Synergy Platform Strategy
Synectics chief executive Amanda Larnder said the company was developing scalable products aimed at addressing operational challenges and creating opportunities for growth. She also said Synergy Search supports the company’s strategy of increasing recurring software revenue over time.
The plan involves adding subscription-based capabilities to the Synergy platform. Synergy Search is being introduced not only as a new video tool, but also as part of Synectics’ wider product-led approach to software development and recurring revenue.
The early access programme will allow the company to engage with customers before the planned commercial launch. Further demonstrations are expected to take place as Synectics develops the product’s market presence.
Recent Technology Developments
The first deployment follows Synectics’ recent launch of Scene Check technology. That product is designed to automate the verification of thousands of surveillance cameras in minutes.
Synectics has also achieved Cyber Assurance of Physical Security Systems certification, known as CAPSS, which is endorsed by the United Kingdom government. The company said the certification and the recent technology releases form part of its continuing security and surveillance work.
For now, Synergy Search remains available through early access after its first customer deployment. Synectics expects to proceed with a wider commercial launch later this year as it continues demonstrations and customer engagement.
