Sportradar Group has successfully completed its acquisition of IMG Arena’s global sports betting rights portfolio from Endeavor Group and OB Global Holdings.
This significant move marks a key strategic advancement for the Switzerland-based sports technology firm, enhancing its position in the competitive landscape of data-driven content for the world’s most popular sports.
Carsten Koerl, CEO of Sportradar, hailed the acquisition as a “significant milestone” that boosts the company’s access to premium global content.
“With this, we are uniquely positioned to deliver even more immersive, data rich experiences to our clients, partners, and fans around the world while accelerating innovation at scale across the global sports ecosystem,” he stated.
With this acquisition, Sportradar gains strategic relationships with more than 70 international sports rights holders, significantly enhancing its offerings. The deal adds around 38,000 official data events and 29,000 live streaming events each year to Sportradar’s portfolio.
This includes access to prestigious tournaments like the US Open, Wimbledon, and Roland-Garros, as well as major leagues such as Major League Soccer and the PGA Tour. Additionally, the acquisition expands Sportradar’s reach into basketball and soccer leagues across Europe, North America, and Australia.
Sportradar is not required to provide any financial consideration
Sportradar has structured its acquisition in a way that does not require it to provide any financial consideration upfront. Instead, the total value of the transaction is estimated at $225 million. This includes approximately $122 million in prepayments made by the seller to specific sports rights holders, along with an additional $103 million to be paid to Sportradar over the next two years, subject to standard purchase price adjustments.
With this acquisition, Sportradar’s global coverage will now surpass 1 million sports matches each year, spanning 14 sports across six continents. The integration of IMG Arena’s content portfolio will significantly enhance Sportradar’s capabilities in delivering official sports data and live data streams to sportsbooks and media partners worldwide.
This development is expected to improve real-time data experiences, thereby enhancing betting integrity and entertainment value in regulated markets.
Furthermore, the arrangement is projected to boost adjusted EBITDA margins and free cash flow, driving faster growth in revenue and overall profitability for Sportradar.
