SJM Resorts will officially cease operations at Casino Kam Pek Paradise at 11:59 pm on December 1, 2025. The decision follows coordination with Macau government authorities and Paradise Entertainment, the operator of the satellite casino under SJM’s gaming license.
Closure Aligns with Macau’s Revised Gaming Law
The closure of the casino complies with the 2021 revision to Macau’s gaming law that requires all satellite casinos to either regularize their operations or close by the end of 2025. This is part of the government-directed initiative to keep the gaming industry healthy and in order.
Redeployment of Assets and Customer Assurance
According to SJM Resorts, all gaming tables and machines currently in operation at Kam Pek Paradise will be redeployed to its own casino properties. Customers holding chips, deposits, or cash rebates at the venue can begin making their follow-up arrangements as of December 2 at other SJM-operated casinos. The company has confirmed that all customer entitlements will be fully honored to give a seamless transition of service without interruption.
Employment Protection and Staff Support
For SJM, safeguarding local employment was of utmost importance. All its directly hired local employees would be retained and, if necessary, redeployed within its casino operations. All those who are not directly employed by SJM would be encouraged to apply for other openings within the group and would enjoy equal treatment and consistent employment conditions. This would also be accompanied by support mechanisms based on individual situations, with a view to facilitating staff transition.
Commitment to Responsible and Orderly Closure
SJM said that it would complete all necessary legal procedures to facilitate the orderly handover and closure, while continuing to put an emphasis on responsible operations and long-term, sustainable development of Macau’s gaming.
The move comes as part of a broader regulatory shift in Macau’s gaming industry after the end of the three-year transition period for the operation of satellite casinos. The approach of SJM Resorts is balanced for regulatory compliance, continuity in the service of customers, and welfare for the workforce as Macau adapts to changing industry standards.
