Red Rock Resorts began the year 2026 on the right foot by proving that no number of cement trucks can deter the excitement of Las Vegas locals.
In an earnings release dated Tuesday, the massive gaming company announced a record quarterly net revenue of $507.3 million for the three months ending June 30. Demand across the Las Vegas Valley remained strong, and the first quarter of 2026 saw record-breaking amounts of play at the company’s latest development, Durango Casino & Resort, contributing to these record-breaking results.
In addition to the revenue being near all-time highs, this quarter also presented some challenges in terms of logistics. Due to Red Rock’s aggressive market expansion strategy, many of the company’s “growing pains” from the construction process have now become evident on Red Rock’s balance sheet.
The Cost of Growth
Although revenue was record-setting, profitability hit a slight decline. The adjusted EBITDA totaled $212.6 million, which is still the company’s second-best Q1 of any year, but the net profit margin suffered due to construction interruptions at the Green Valley Ranch and Durango properties, which resulted in disruption costs during Q1.
Net Income for the quarter was approximately $42.9 million or $0.73 a share, which is significantly higher than the forecast provided by Wall Street.
During the earnings call, CFO Stephen Cootey was candid with analysts by discussing that construction disruption from cranes, concrete trucks, and erecting steel at the Durango site is projected to generate an additional $2 million-$3 million of construction disruption costs in the next quarter.
The construction disruptions are due to part of the large 2nd phase of the Durango project, which will add approximately 275,000 square feet to the site over THE next 18 months. This means a temporary reduction in operating efficiency to allow for the ultimate growth of the property.
Resilient Players, Aggressive Returns
There are no indications that a downturn in the economy is affecting the activity levels on casino floors; according to reports from management, spending in hotels, food and beverage, and gaming has remained resilient compared to experience. As an example, management noted that the promotional environment, which refers to when companies spend large amounts of money on marketing and give away lots of free play, remains consistent.
Shareholders also continue to support Red Rock as their favorite gaming company, as evidenced by Red Rock’s generation of $107 million in operating free cash flow during the quarter and $170.5 million being returned to shareholders in the form of dividends and stock repurchases.
Looking North
With Q1 in the books, the company is now laser-focused on its next big bet: Durango North.
Slated for a Summer 2027 opening, the project is designed to capture repeat visits through increased gaming capacity and enhanced amenities. Management confirmed they intend to keep their net debt-to-EBITDA ratio around the 4.07x mark, signaling a “steady as she goes” approach to financing their ambitious pipeline.
For Red Rock Resorts, the message of Q1 is clear: the dust from construction may be flying, but the house is still winning.
By the Numbers:
- Net Revenue: $507.3 Million (Q1 Record)
- Net Income: $42.9 Million (73 cents/share)
- Shareholder Returns: $170.5 Million
- Next Milestone: Durango North opening (Summer 2027)
