The Institute of Lottery and Casinos of Buenos Aires Province (IPLyC) held a recreational bingo day for the elderly in La Plata on August 31, uniting more than 600 seniors at the Círculo Cultural Tolosano. The activity, which began in 2023, has already visited several cities around the province, and its success continues to consolidate itself as a worthwhile space for social integration and recreation.
The event took place in collaboration with the Social Security Institute and featured top-level figures, including IPLyC president Gonzalo Atanasof and La Plata mayor Julio Alak. Their presence helped highlight the value of offering a venue for senior citizens to partake in companionship, amusement, and entertainment in a welcoming environment.
Bingo, Prizes, and More
The afternoon activities started with four rounds of bingo with prizes for lines and full houses. To add to the excitement, participants were entered into raffles for two 50-inch TVs and a two-person stay at the Hotel Sasso in Mar del Plata.
Aside from the thrill of the games, they also had a shared afternoon snack, fostering an atmosphere of unity and camaraderie. The hall later turned into a lively dance floor. Performers DJ Uriel Gómez, Lara Ferreyra en Banda, and Marcelo Gabriel set the music and rhythm of the party, getting the seniors to not only play but also dance and laugh together.

Since its inception in 2023, this recreation bingo program has expanded to numerous towns within the province, including Mar del Plata, Luján, Colón, Coronel Pringles, and San Andrés de Giles. The Cultural Institute was also involved in the day’s activities, and the IOMA health insurance organization had a booth where they answered questions and provided information to participants. During the activity, IPLyC president Gonzalo Atanasof addressed emotional words about the importance of taking care of older citizens. “One of the activities I enjoy most is this one, as it allows us to be close to our seniors, to accompany them, and to create spaces of joy and meeting in complicated times“, he said.
Atanasof also acknowledged the suffering that many retirees are facing due to current national policies, stating that events like this activity offer relief and solidarity. “Today, many retirees are suffering because of the policies of the National Government, and that is why it is so gratifying to be able to spend an afternoon of prizes, music, and dancing with them“, he added.
The event was also graced by other notable public figures, such as AUBASA President José Arteaga, provincial deputy candidates Paula Lambertini and Andrea Rodríguez, and Marcelo Iafolla, director of the La Plata Regional Market. Their presence served to underscore the general support for projects that work towards the welfare of the elderly.
