Peru’s Online Betting Market Surges: BETBY Highlights 35-Fold Growth Path

A new in-depth report published by BETBY shows that the regulated online betting market in Peru is entering a period of transformation. Titled “The Peruvian Revolution: A Market Ready to Take Off“, the study positions Peru as one of the most promising, stable, and scalable digital gambling ecosystems in Latin America.

With a full regulatory framework in place since 2024, Peru now boasts a clear licensing environment, transparent regulations, and one of the fastest countries to align with international best practices. BETBY’s report highlights that the country is experiencing significant change-not just in terms of maturing markets but also in how users interact with online betting platforms across the territory.

Regulatory Momentum Fuels Rapid Expansion

The start of formal regulation has already had tangible outcomes. BETBY indicates that in just one year of Peru’s regulated online betting market, 59% of GGR migrated onto locally licensed operators. This swift market migration is attributed to rigorous supervision, clarity of compliance, and a regulatory model instilling trust and stability in operations.

The projected long-term impact is even more striking. By 2030, Peru’s online GGR is expected to reach €1.3 billion, up some 35-fold compared with 2003. Such accelerated growth will establish Peru as one of the fastest-expanding online betting markets across the region, underpinned by economic stability, strong regulatory credibility, and digital engagement on the rise.

Mobile Betting Now Takes Center Stage

As has been the case in many developing digital ecosystems, mobile betting has become the dominant force. According to an analysis by BETBY, mobile platforms are on track to account for nearly half of all online GGR by the end of the decade, which confirms the key role of smartphones in changing user behavior across Peru.

The local audience shows one of the highest levels of engagement in Latin America. BETBY reports that 87% of Peruvian bettors follow the matches they bet on, which means a very connected and emotionally involved audience. Nevertheless, even with this digital shift, 28% of all bettors still prefer physical betting locations. This, in turn, means that the brick-and-mortar environment remains culturally relevant, especially across particular demographic segments.

Economic Impact and Long-Term Potential

Beyond user behavior and revenue trends, Peru’s regulated betting ecosystem is increasingly becoming a key economic driver. BETBY’s report estimates that by 2030, the sectors of gambling and betting will represent 0.63% of Peru’s GDP, against 0.24% in 2003. This growth reflects not only the expansion of this sector but also broader socio-economic changes, including rising disposable income and stable inflation levels.

Perhaps the most telling indicator of growth, however, is the forecasted average spend per adult, which is set to rise from €6.87 to €82.61 in a twenty-year period. These figures reflect not only a maturing consumer base but also a healthy appetite for digital entertainment options.

Innovation and Local Culture Market Balancing

According to Stefanos Karakidis, Director of Business Development at BETBY, what really separates Peru is the speed at which it is falling in line with global standards without losing its local betting culture. He has also emphasized how this is occurring alongside a drive toward digital transformation, even as hybrid, omnichannel betting experiences remain popular.

As Karakidis said, the pace and scale of this growth bring new opportunities for long-term strategies. With strong regulatory foundations, rising demand, and a market moving quickly toward digital excellence, Peru stands out as a high-potential destination for operators and investors focused on durable, diversified expansion.

A future wherein Peru develops into one of the leading online betting markets in Latin America, characterized by rapid maturation, contribution to the economy, and high user engagement, is shown in the report by BETBY. If projections hold, Peru’s digital betting revolution is only beginning-and its next phase promises even greater opportunities across the sector.
