Paysafe says payments could decide who wins the biggest customer land-grab of the year, with bettors putting cash-out speed and brand trust ahead of odds and promos as Super Bowl LX approaches.
In new survey research published on 4 February 2026, the payments group found 51% of fans in regulated US states and Canadian provinces who plan to follow the game also plan to bet online. The study covered bettors in Florida, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Ontario.
Half the audience wants to bet, and many plan to push harder than usual
Among fans in those regulated markets who intend to bet, Paysafe found 59% plan to place wagers on game day, while 27% expect to bet more than usual.
When bettors choose a sportsbook, they prioritise: Brand trust (43%), and Streamlined payouts (37%), amongst others.
According to results from the survey, if the payment experience goes wrong on Super Bowl day, 84% of bettors say they would switch brands.
That is not a minor churn risk. That is a mass exit sign.
Paysafe’s headline forecast: $1.71bn in U.S. legal wagers
Paysafe’s President of Global Gaming, Zak Cutler, linked the report to betting volume expectations and the operator land grab around Super Bowl traffic.
“Super Bowl LX is expected to generate a record $1.71bn in legal wagers from the U.S. market alone,” Cutler said, adding that Ontario is also likely to see “unprecedented betting volume.”
Separately, American Gaming Association has projected $1.76bn in legal wagers, reinforcing the scale of the weekend and the intensity of the competition between major apps.
Interest is high in California, Texas, and Alberta
Super Bowl weekends compress an entire acquisition cycle into a few hours. Paysafe’s data suggests the deciding factor will not be who runs the loudest promotion. It will be who lets bettors deposit and cash out without drama.
Even in places without a full regulated market, fans say they want legal options. 52% of fans in California, Texas, and Alberta would be keen to place legal bets on future Super Bowls.
If betting were legal, fans in those jurisdictions would still choose sportsbooks based on trust first (36%), then payment performance: fast payouts (29%) and rapid deposits (26%).
