Paraíba Brings Together Operators and Experts to Strengthen Betting Regulation

The State Lottery of Paraíba (Lotep) brought together operators, gaming experts, and stakeholders in the gaming sector during the “Lotep Day – Governance, Technology and Responsible Gaming” event, which took place yesterday (11) in João Pessoa.

The event was designed to improve and strengthen the current regulatory practices and technological and responsible gaming strategies within the regulated betting market in Paraíba.

Strengthening Dialogue Between Regulator and Operators

At the opening ceremony of the event, Lotep’s Superintendent Petrônio Rolim highlighted the importance of maintaining a continuous and updated relationship between the gaming regulator and the operators.

The betting sector increasingly requires institutional responsibility, technology, and regulatory clarity. Lotep Day was designed precisely to strengthen this technical dialogue with operators and consolidate a model based on legal certainty, effective oversight, and consumer protection”, he stated.

This is just one more initiative from the state gaming authority to strengthen its relationship with the regulated gaming market and develop its regulation strategy.

Governance and Responsible Gaming at the Center of Discussions

The morning sessions focused on the importance of governance and responsible gaming as key aspects to be taken into account to develop a sustainable gaming industry.

Graziele Batista, president of Lotep’s Responsible Gaming Commission (CJR), highlighted the current regulations in place and emphasized the importance of shared responsibility between the gaming regulator and operators to avoid abusive gaming practices and protect consumers.

Subsequently, a lawyer named Fernanda Queiroz was invited to make a presentation on the theme “Betting Marketing in Paraíba: Obligations, Risks, and Best Practices.” In the lawyer’s speech, the legal parameters related to the advertising and communication of the activity were addressed, based on the parameters established by the Lotep Ordinance No. 36/2025 and the State Law No. 15.325/2026.

Time was given to the participants to ask their questions and contribute their points of view, thus fostering interaction among the participants before the start of the afternoon session.

Regulatory Modernization and Technological Oversight

The technical session was dedicated to the theme of regulatory modernization and the technological monitoring system to regulate the platforms of the betting activity.

Abraão Araújo, the Technical and Inspection Manager of the Lotep agency, was the speaker of the session. In his speech, the speaker informed the audience about the new regulatory guidelines that the agency is developing. It was informed that the agency is committed to keeping up with the rapid evolution of the activity in the country.

Christhiny Sanson, the Digital Modernization Manager of the Lotep agency, was the speaker of the session. In the speaker’s speech, the technological model used to deploy the platforms was explained to the audience.

The technical session was concluded with a speech given by HostDine Brasil, the institutional partner of the event. In the speech, the speaker informed the audience about the technology infrastructure solutions provided by the company.

Creation of Working Groups to Continue Discussions

The event was a platform to discuss the regulatory and technological aspects related to the activity, thus fostering the dialogue with the regulated market, which is a strategy of the agency to engage the regulated market.

As a result of the meeting, the regulated market and the agency agreed to create the Working Groups to continue the discussions on the regulatory and operational aspects related to the implementation of the existing regulations in the state.

Regulating the sector requires permanent technical dialogue and monitoring of technological transformations. The proposal is to maintain this communication channel with operators to continuously improve the regulated environment in the state,” he said.
