Okto has deepened its partnership with S8 to build an integrated finance and payments stack for merchants in high-growth Latin American markets.
The move was designed to give gambling operators and other regulated businesses a single environment for payments, treasury, and risk management, rather than relying on multiple providers and internal workarounds.
The combined model is already live in Brazil, with expansion planned to Colombia, Mexico, Chile, and Argentina.
From paytech to full financial infrastructure
For operators and brands, the intention is to replace a patchwork of banks, PSPs, and local intermediaries with a coordinated financial stack that supports regional expansion while keeping control and oversight in one place.
Okto says the model targets sectors where regulation, settlement speed, and FX exposure are central to the P&L, including iGaming, digital entertainment, and high-volume online commerce.
Treasury, risk, and growth under one roof
The partnership is positioned as a treasury and finance hub rather than a narrow payments add-on. Okto argues that consolidating flows through a single stack can sharpen visibility on balances and exposures, shorten settlement cycles, and lower operational overheads for finance teams.
Edward Chandler, group CEO at Okto, said the expanded S8 alliance is intended to move the company beyond the limits of a conventional payment service provider and support merchants “across the full financial spectrum”.
S8 founder and CEO Lisandra Pereira Branco said clients across the region are facing more complex regulatory and liquidity pressures, and that the joint framework is designed to provide them with a coordinated environment to manage risk, liquidity, and growth.
Stablecoin settlement and regulatory alignment
A key element of the joint roadmap is a stablecoin settlement layer that will sit alongside traditional card and bank rails. The aim is to reduce friction and cost in cross-border flows while keeping settlement aligned with local rules on virtual assets.
In Brazil, Okto has indicated that any broader use of stablecoins will follow guidance from the Central Bank and evolving rules for virtual asset service providers. For now, token- and stablecoin-based options are presented as features that can be switched on where regulation and risk appetite allow.
Focus on Latin America’s regulated growth markets
The joint Okto–S8 proposition is anchored in Brazil, where S8 was launched in 2024 as Okto’s financial arm to support operators entering the newly regulated betting and gaming market. Both companies have since outlined a wider LatAm strategy, with the new framework positioned as the financial backbone for that expansion.
The announcement follows Okto’s appointment of André Boesing as general manager for South Latin America, a move the company says will strengthen local leadership amid intensifying payment and regulatory demands across the region.
