Virginia’s sports betting market kept its momentum in October, pushing to $831.6 million in total wagers. With football season in full swing, bettors were more active than ever, driving a 19.5 percent jump from last year and a solid rise from September.
Mobile betting leads the story
As usual, almost everything happened on mobile. Out of the full handle, $824m came from phones and apps, showing how deeply mobile betting is now built into the market. Retail sportsbooks added $7.6m, steady but small in comparison.
Players won $751m, and operators closed the month with a 9.69 percent hold.
Revenue stays strong
Adjusted gross revenue reached $75.3m, with mobile operators accounting for the vast majority at $74.5m. Retail locations added just over $739k.
Ten operators reported positive revenue, which resulted in $11.3m in state tax contributions. For the state, October was one of the stronger months of the year.
Casinos see major growth
Virginia’s casinos continued their climb, too. Hard Rock Bristol, Rivers Casino Portsmouth and Caesars Virginia combined for $82.1m in revenue, marking a 44 percent year-over-year jump.
Slots brought in $60.6m, while table games added $21.5m, reflecting steady growth across both verticals.
With sports betting and casino revenue rising together, Virginia is heading into the final stretch of 2025 with a gaming market that shows no signs of slowing down.
