The digital financial services platform Nu and Inter Miami CF have entered into a historic partnership deal, with the fintech company being declared the main partner of the latter. The deal has been signed at a critical time for both companies, with Nu seeking to increase its global footprint in the US and Inter Miami looking to strengthen its position as a global football force under the guidance of its skipper, Lionel Messi.
The partnership has been made possible through a major naming rights deal, with the new Inter Miami stadium at the Miami Freedom Park being renamed the Nu Stadium. Thus, the financial technology company is at the heart of the most ambitious sports and entertainment venture in the US.
The stadium, which has been built to hold 26,700 fans, is expected to open its doors to the public on April 4, 2026, and mark a new beginning for the Inter Miami team and its fans.
A New Sports and Entertainment Destination
The stadium, which has been built to function throughout the year, will be the new home for the Inter Miami CF team. In addition to the MLS games, the venue will also host concerts of all sizes, corporate events, and other sports events such as friendly and competitive matches.
The deal has been hailed by Cristina Junqueira, the co-founder and CEO of the emerging business of Nu in the US, as a critical partnership for the company.
“This long-term partnership is a strategic partnership with an international sports franchise that shares the same aspirations and global vision as we do. Nu Stadium will not only strengthen our brand presence in the U.S., allowing us to connect with a diverse international community, but also build the world’s most influential consumer technology platform”, she said.
Expanded Branding and Sponsorship Assets
Apart from the naming rights deal, the agreement also includes a broad spectrum of premium assets. The Nu logo will be featured on the back of the jersey for Inter Miami CF, considered the best-selling jersey in the world of football. The placement will be for a new league asset set to debut in August 2026.
Inter Miami managing owner Jorge Mas said the team has always sought to raise the bar, both on and off the field.
“Inter Miami was created to set new standards and redefine what is possible in football. That is why we pursue greatness on the field by signing the best players in the world, and just as importantly, we follow that same standard when choosing partners who help bring our vision to life”, Mas said.
Celebrating the Partnership
The partnership was marked on March 3 with a visual celebration at the future site of the stadium. The Nu Stadium was lit up with a pink heart symbolizing Inter Miami and a purple color representing the Nu brand. A drone display was also put up over the Miami area, marking the first heartbeat before the first match at the stadium.
Inter Miami co-owner David Beckham talked about the symbolic value of the new stadium for the team and its fans.
“Miami has always been a place where people arrive with big dreams, and from the beginning, we wanted this club to reflect that spirit. The opening of our new stadium is a truly special moment in our journey—a place where fans from across South Florida and people all over the world who have a connection to our club can come and watch us play”, Beckham said.
Premium Fan Spaces at Nu Stadium
As part of the partnership, Nu will also provide two exclusive areas within the stadium complex. Nu Club is a premium hospitality facility that will accommodate 770 fans and provide a glass tunnel view of the players as they walk from the locker room to the playing field.
On the other hand, Nu Plaza will be a dynamic community area within the Miami Freedom Park, which will be used as a branded area, a large public screen, and seating areas to create a public atmosphere within the overall entertainment district.
