New Jersey’s gaming industry generated $678.1 million in July, extending a strong run for the state’s casinos, online operators and sports betting market.
The figure was 11.9% higher than in July 2025, with internet gaming and sports wagering both posting double-digit annual growth. The latest results put the state’s total gaming revenue for the first seven months of 2026 at $4.2 billion, 6.9% above the $3.92 billion recorded over the same period last year.
Sports wagering delivered the sharpest annual increase in July. Revenue reached $97 million, up 29.7% from $74.8 million a year earlier.
That monthly surge has not translated into year-to-date growth. Sports wagering revenue stands at $609.9 million through July, 2.7% below the comparable period in 2025.
The bigger story is online gaming, which continues to account for a substantial share of New Jersey’s expansion.
Online gaming keeps gaining ground
Internet gaming produced $276.9 million in July, compared with $247.3 million in the same month last year. That represents growth of about 12%.
Through July, online gaming win has reached $1.87 billion. A year earlier, the figure was $1.63 billion, putting the sector 14.5% ahead.
The state’s nine casino hotels remain the largest individual source of gaming revenue. They generated $304.2 million in July. Their combined casino win for the year so far is $1.72 billion, an increase of 3.1% from the previous year.
The numbers show a market that is growing, but not evenly. Traditional casino revenue is rising at a modest pace while digital gaming is expanding considerably faster. Sports betting, despite its strong July, remains slightly behind its 2025 year-to-date performance.
That mix is increasingly important to the overall results.
Tax receipts approach $600 million
New Jersey collected $92.2 million in gross gaming revenue taxes during July. For the first seven months of 2026, gaming taxes have reached $592.7 million.
The overall revenue increase is therefore being supported by several different parts of the market rather than a single breakout sector. July’s results added another strong month to a year that has so far produced $4.2 billion in gaming revenue.
For operators, the strongest momentum is coming from online gaming and a sharp July rebound in sports wagering. For the state, the result is a growing tax base — one that has already generated nearly $600 million in gaming-related taxes before August begins.
