The arrival of additional land-based casino operators in the Philippines’ domestic online gaming segment is increasing competitive pressure, according to professional services firm Reyes Tacandong & Co. Even so, analysts cited in local reporting said DigiPlus Interactive Corp remains the market’s incumbent leader.
DigiPlus Still Seen As Market Leader
The arrival of more casino operators may increase the level of competition but will not take away the lead that DigiPlus holds, according to Jonathan Ravelas, senior advisor at Reyes Tacandong. According to him, in the short term, the most affected will be margins rather than revenue dominance, and in the long run, it will be the firm that achieves a fine balance between customers and regulatory requirements.
DigiPlus provides casino products, sports betting, and bingo for consumers. Its main products in the Philippines include BingoPlus, an online bingo platform, ArenaPlus, a sportsbook, and GameZone, a platform for casual and arcade gaming.
The company’s lead is being tested as more players enter the same space, but analysts still see it as having a wider user base and stronger platform experience. That advantage, according to brokerage commentary cited by the Manila Bulletin, remains important as the domestic online gaming market becomes more crowded.
Brokers See Margin Pressure
The Manila Bulletin also cited Abacus Securities Corp’s earnings preview for DigiPlus, which said the growing competition is likely to slowly reduce the company’s market share and force it to keep spending on advertising and promotions in order to maintain its customer base.
Abacus said that DigiPlus’ soon-to-be-announced second-quarter gross gaming revenue is likely to follow a trend close to its performance in the 4th quarter of 2025 and the 1st quarter of 2026. The brokerage linked that view to weaker consumer spending, which it said had been hit by the impact of the Iran war, as previously noted by Philippine gaming regulator PAGCOR.
The brokerage added that this would likely result in a 20% to 25% decline in revenues year-on-year, mainly because of a higher comparison base. That outlook suggests the combination of a stronger market backdrop in previous periods and current spending pressure is likely to weigh on reported numbers.
New Entrants Change The Landscape
Richard Laneda, a research analyst at COL Financial Group Inc, also said the new entrants are expected to affect competition in the online gaming space. He pointed out that DigiPlus will still have an advantage in spite of having a bigger pool of users, a better platform, more user interaction, and a better online gaming experience in comparison to the new operators.
It is obvious from his remarks that he does not consider DigiPlus to be in danger of losing its position at present. The challenge now appears to be defending that lead while spending more to keep players active and loyal.
Laneda also noted that Bloomberry Resorts Corp, which operates 2 Solaire-branded land-based casinos in the Metro Manila region, has revamped its online offering in an effort to improve its market appeal. That move adds another layer of competition to the domestic online segment.
Market Outlook Remains Tight
The latest analyst comments point to a market where DigiPlus still has scale and brand strength, but where new land-based casino operators are beginning to chip away at the easy advantages. The issue is not simply whether the company can hold revenue, but how much more it may need to spend to do so.
For now, analysts remain split between confidence in DigiPlus’ lead and caution over the pressure on margins. The company’s next earnings update is expected to offer a clearer view of how much the competition is already affecting its position.
