Michigan’s online sports betting market posted a sharp jump in adjusted revenue in July, climbing 52.7% from the previous month to $30.8 million.
The timing points to the World Cup as a likely factor. The Michigan Gaming Control Board does not break out revenue by individual sports, so the precise contribution from football cannot be measured from the state data.
The increase comes as other US markets are also reporting stronger sports betting results. New York, for example, recorded a record July for sports betting revenue.
Michigan’s wider online gambling market was also up, though by a much smaller margin.
Online gambling revenue reaches $321.4 million
Adjusted gross revenue from Michigan’s internet gambling market reached $321.4 million in July, up 0.5% from June and 23.6% compared with July 2025.
Online casino gaming remained the main source of revenue, generating $290.7 million on an adjusted basis.
Sports betting produced the remaining $30.8 million.
The broader gross revenue figures tell a similar story. Total gross iGaming revenue increased 1.4% month on month to $346.1 million. Online casino gaming accounted for $302.8 million, while sports betting generated $43.4 million.
The stronger revenue result came despite a decline in betting activity.
Michigan sportsbooks handled $355.2 million in wagers during July, down 3% from June. The combination of lower handle and substantially higher adjusted revenue suggests that sportsbooks retained more of the money wagered during the month.
Sports betting revenue was also 28.8% higher than in July last year.
The figures leave July as a particularly strong month for Michigan sportsbooks, with the World Cup providing a major sporting event during the period but without state data showing exactly how much of the increase came from soccer betting.
