Melco Resorts & Entertainment Ltd announced that the Mocha Grand Dragon Hotel slot hall will officially close this coming Monday, November 24, at 11:59 p.m. The venue is located in Taipa and forms part of Melco’s network of Mocha-branded slot-machine parlours around Macau.
This represents the latest in a line of recent closures by Melco in its Macau slot operations. In September, the company shut down the Mocha Kuong Fat slot parlour as well as the Grand Dragon Casino, a satellite casino also situated in Taipa. Melco announced in June that the Grand Dragon Casino would shut before the end of 2025, along with three smaller slot parlours, including the Mocha Grand Dragon Hotel. It intends to close another, the Mocha Hotel Royal, on the Macau peninsula, before year-end.
Compliance and Coordination with Macau Regulator
Melco pointed out that all closure procedures for Mocha Grand Dragon Hotel would be carried out in full compliance with the applicable laws and regulations. The shutdown process is to be overseen by the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau of Macau to ensure that this proceeds in an orderly manner.
In its statement regarding the closure, Melco affirmed that all electronic gaming machines from the closing venue will be reallocated to its other licensed casinos in Macau with the approval of DICJ.
Managing Employee Transition and Customer Rights
Melco reassured that local employees currently working at Mocha Grand Dragon Hotel will be reassigned to roles at other Melco-operated casinos and gaming areas based on operational needs. This aims to ensure a smooth workforce transition and preserve the continuity of employees’ jobs.
The Macau regulator also stated it will maintain close communication with the city’s Labour Affairs Bureau to monitor the relocation of the 44 workers affected by this closure.
To protect customer interests, Melco noted that patrons of Mocha Grand Dragon Hotel will retain the right to use their gaming slips at other Melco properties, specifically the Altira Casino, Mocha Inner Harbor, Mocha Golden Dragon, and Mocha Sintra Hotel.

The latest closure forms part of Melco Resorts’ strategic effort towards the optimization of slot machine operations in Macau, set against a changing regulatory and market landscape. The company proceeds with the orderly shutdown of select venues, balancing business needs against compliance and commitments towards employees and customers alike.
With plans to shut the Mocha Grand Dragon Hotel by the end of November and other properties before the year ends, Melco signals further streamlining of its Macau footprint, even as service quality and regulatory standards remain consistently met across remaining venues.
