LONATO Shares Five-Year Plan to Modernize Togo’s Lottery System

The Loterie Nationale du Togo (LONATO) is embarking on an ambitious five-year plan to enhance the lottery system in the Togolese Republic. This initiative aligns with the Togo Digital 2025–2030 strategy, aimed at establishing the country as a technology hub in West Africa.

The modernization effort focuses on improving accessibility, efficiency, and the overall experience for players. As part of this plan, LONATO will upgrade around 900 existing terminals to new TS10 units.

These updated terminals will come equipped with integrated 24-hour batteries and offer various connectivity options, including 2G, 3G, 4G, and GPRS networks with dual SIM capability. Over the next five years, the initiative will see the deployment of up to 5,000 terminals nationwide, significantly increasing access to lottery games for players across the country.

Major improvements planned

One significant improvement is the faster announcement of daily draw results. With the new setup, LONATO can now share results within just five minutes after ticket sales close. This cuts down wait times and increases transparency for players. LONATO stated that the new terminals will make playing the lottery easier and more accessible across Togo.

Additionally, LONATO is broadening its game offerings. The introduction of Lotto Matinal, a daily draw that started in 2024, and Loto Turbo, which features two draws each day, give players more chances to win while keeping ticket prices low.

Strengthening national revenue

The modernization of LONATO aligns with the government’s larger goals for economic growth and digital inclusion.

“Through these initiatives, we aim to strengthen national revenue while providing a modern, transparent lottery experience,” Minister of Digital Economy, Kodjo Adedze, said, according to TechAfrica.

These upgrades are not just about improving technology; they also reinforce LONATO’s vital role in the country’s development. By transforming the lottery system, LONATO aims to enhance player engagement and boost revenues, contributing to a more transparent operation overall.
