The Gaming Supervision Authority (LPT) in Lithuania has recently approved changes to the Remote Gambling Agreement form. One key amendment involves the removal of clauses regarding contract termination, as these provisions are already addressed in other legal documents, according to the LPT.
In their statement, the LPT noted, “The issues of termination of remote gambling contracts are essentially regulated by the Laws on Gambling and the Prevention of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing.”
“The grounds for termination of a remote gambling agreement are also established by gambling operators in the regulations on the organization of gambling. In this way, morally obsolete or irrelevant attitudes are no longer there.”
These amendments went live on 1 November 2025.
More protection for problem gamblers
The recent updates to remote gambling agreements in Lithuania enhance protections for players showing signs of problem gambling. Operators now have the option to terminate agreements with such players, building a more responsible gaming environment
Moving forward, gaming operators and their existing customers must amend their current agreements to comply with new legislation governing business relations with gamblers. The LPT stated, “From now on, remote gambling agreements with gamblers will be able to be terminated only in accordance with the above-mentioned provisions of the law.”
To further support this initiative, the Gaming Supervision Authority affirmed its commitment to assist operators by providing methodological guidance and preparing clear guidelines for terminating gambling contracts, which is essential for protecting players’ rights.
Additionally, the LPT mandates that gambling operators implement responsible gambling control systems capable of monitoring player behaviour and identifying problem gambling issues, ensuring that appropriate actions are taken when necessary.
