The International Association of Gaming Regulators said its 2026 annual conference will be held in Lima, Peru, from October 19 to 22 in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism. That will position Peru once more as the epicenter of global gaming regulation, innovation, and cross-border cooperation.
A Global Gathering of Gaming Regulators
The announcement was made at the IAGR 2025 Conference in Toronto, Canada, which included over 300 delegates from more than 40 countries, among whom were gaming regulators, legal experts, government officials, academics, and industry specialists.
The IAGR Annual Conference is one of the most important international meetings for policy dialogue and regulatory innovation in the gaming sector. It represents a yearly opportunity to share best practices, look toward emerging trends, and address common challenges in the oversight of gambling markets worldwide.
IAGR Returns to Latin America
“We are so excited to be returning to South America, over a decade later“, said IAGR President Ben Haden. “While the last time we hosted a conference in Peru was back in 2015, I’ve heard many stories about the incredible hospitality and energy that defined that event.”
The decision to return to Lima is a reflection of the country’s regulatory progress and the region’s growing relevance in the global gaming landscape, according to Haden. “Latin America continues to show its ability to drive regulatory innovation and cross-border collaboration-ideals that align perfectly with IAGR’s mission of advancing integrity, transparency, and effectiveness in gaming regulation“, he said.
Peru’s Commitment to Responsible and Transparent Regulation
Mincetur’s Casino Games and Slot Machines Director General, Yuri Guerra Padilla, welcomed the announcement, saying that for the country to host IAGR in 2026 would be an honor.
“The event represents a strategic opportunity to present the development of our regulatory framework, which aims to balance consumer protection with market integrity and sustainable economic development“, added Guerra.
He underlined that, in today’s interconnected environment, regulatory challenges transcend borders and that international cooperation is more necessary than ever. “Hosting the world’s leading gaming regulators in Lima permits us to share experiences, strengthen alliances, and build international standards that enhance competitiveness and transparency in the industry“, he said.
A Strategic Hub for Dialogue and InnovationPeru’su being chosen as a host also underlines the continued progress of the country in regulatory modernization and digital transformation. Under the supervision of Mincetur, the Peruvian gaming industry has turned into one of the most structured and transparent in Latin America, setting clear compliance rules and responsible gaming initiatives now viewed as a regional benchmark.
Guerra finished by highlighting Lima’s appeal as a destination for international delegates: “We are confident that participants will find in Lima an ideal setting for technical dialogue, cooperation, and regulatory innovation.
