Korea Sports Leisure Co. Ltd. is offering rewards of up to 200 million won for reports of violations under the National Sports Promotion Act through its Illegal Sports Toto Reporting Center. The company said the system is designed to support efforts against illegal sports gambling by encouraging public reporting of operators, users, and promoters.
Reporting Center And Rewards
The Illegal Sports Toto Reporting Center accepts reports through its homepage or by phone. It covers a wide range of illegal sports gambling activity, including sites, operators, and those promoting or facilitating the activity.
Korea Sports Leisure said reports tied to the operation of illegal sports gambling can receive rewards of up to 200 million won. Reports involving match-fixing in Sports Toto events can receive up to 50 million won, while reports on activities such as using, promoting, designing systems for, brokering or mediating, and providing sports event information for illegal sports gambling can receive up to 15 million won.
The company said the system is intended to strengthen the foundation for eradicating illegal gambling through citizen participation.
Site Reports And Evidence
The reporting process for illegal sports gambling sites requires users to access the main page, verify their identity, enter the site’s URL, and access information such as ID, password, and referrer, and then attach evidence. After review by the Korea Communications Commission, reporters can receive 15,000 won per case, up to a maximum of 1.5 million won per person.
Korea Sports Leisure said that for illegal gambling sites with unlimited cloning and URL generation features, rewards may be limited to the first reporter of the site. That rule is intended to account for the way some sites can rapidly reproduce themselves across multiple addresses.
Deposit Account Reports
Reports on deposit accounts linked to illegal sports gambling sites can also be submitted alongside site reports. These reports are eligible for a reward of 100,000 won per case without a limit.
The company said reporters must provide an accurate registered mobile phone number because reward results or notifications are sent by mobile text message. That requirement is part of the center’s process for handling and confirming reports.
Public Participation Role
A Korea Sports Leisure source said voluntary citizen reporting is key to eradicating illegal sports gambling and added that the company will continue operating the system to help prevent damage. The reward program is being presented as part of a broader effort to make public reporting a regular part of enforcement against illegal gambling activity.
