Japan Cash Machine Co Ltd, or JCM Global for short, ended the first 9 months of its financial year 2025 with increased profit despite a decline in overall sales. The Tokyo-listed company, which produces banknote validators, currency handling machines, and gaming printers, said that its net profit for the period from April to December 2025 increased due to a one-time gain and improved profitability in its main gaming business, especially in North America.
Profit Rises on Asset Sale
During the first 9 months ended December 31, 2025, JCM reported a net profit of almost JPY4.98 billion (or $31.7 million), a 21.5 percent increase from the same period in the previous year. The company attributed this to its net profit growth due to the posting of a gain from the sale of non-current assets as extraordinary income in the third quarter of the year. This one-time gain helped mitigate the pressure on the company’s top line.
The company’s net sales for the period from April to December 2025 were JPY23.43 billion, down 22.7 percent from the same period in the previous year. Despite this decline, the company was still able to improve its bottom line due to its cost management, product mix, and the posting of the extraordinary gain. The company remains focused on its core strength in cash handling technologies and gaming printers, which are still at the heart of its business despite some challenges in certain areas.
Global Gaming Holds Up on North America Demand
Within JCM’s global gaming business, the picture was more resilient. Sales in the segment totaled slightly more than JPY15.79 billion for the nine-month period, a decline of 3.7 percent compared to the previous year’s sales. The demand for bill validator products for gaming machine businesses in North America has been steady and a major contributor to the sales achievement, the company said.
Conversely, European sales declined over this period, negatively affecting the overall gaming segment sales. Nonetheless, its segment profit increased to JPY3.86 billion, up by 7.3 percent year-on-year. According to JCM, this was largely owing to higher sales of high-margin products. The company cited that its main market, the global gaming market, had exhibited strong sales of its core products, with continued demand coming from casino hotels and other venues within North America.
Full-Year Forecasts Revised Higher
In relation to its earnings announcement, JCM has also revised its full-year forecast for 2026, ending on March 31, 2026. The company reaffirmed its net sales forecast of JPY31.00 billion for the year, which is in line with its previous forecast. Nevertheless, it has revised its forecast for profitability, which is driven by the contribution of high-margin products and positive foreign exchange movements.
JCM now forecasts operating income of JPY2.60 billion and annual net profit of JPY5.00 billion for the current fiscal year. These revised forecasts are much higher than its previous forecast of operating income of JPY1.40 billion and net profit of JPY3.20 billion. This revised forecast is an indication that despite the decline in sales in certain sectors, the company is confident of having stronger earnings power than it initially expected.
High-Margin Mix and FX Gains Support Outlook
In explaining the upgrade, JCM acknowledged that sales in its equipment for the amusement industry segment are running below the initial forecast. Even so, it said that overall net sales are broadly tracking its earlier expectations, thanks to increased sales of high-margin products such as bill validator units for gaming machines, especially in the North American market within its global gaming segment. This shift toward more profitable items is expected to lift operating profit above the level previously announced.
The company also cited foreign exchange gains as another factor that is likely to contribute to increased profit for the year. Taking all these into consideration, JCM is gearing up to make better profits despite the 22.7 percent drop in net sales in the first 9 months of December. The recent performance and adjusted forecast indicate that the company is relying on product mix, regional success in North America, and special gains to help it through the tough sales environment while still working to achieve improved profitability by the end of its 2026 fiscal year.
