International Game Technology (IGT), a gaming technology market leader, has entered into a multi-year sports betting services and technology deal with Hipódromo de Agua Caliente and Distribuidora Internacional de Equipos de Juego. The deal will significantly expand the reach of the IGT PlaySports platform in Mexico and Latin America through its partnership with Corporación Caliente.
42 Sportsbooks in Mexico and Regional Expansion
As part of the agreement, IGT PlaySports will manage 42 Caliente-branded retail sportsbooks in Mexico. The roll-out will begin locally and then sequentially roll out throughout other Latin American jurisdictions.
Apart from expanding operations in Mexico, Corporación Caliente will leverage the partnership to provide Latin American operators with access to IGT PlaySports technology. The expansion will be made available to more than 100 additional betting shops in eight countries: Antigua, Argentina, Aruba, Brazil, Ecuador, Panama, Paraguay, and Uruguay.
The phased approach will deliver operational stability, regionalized adaptations, and uniform quality controls for multiple markets. By delivering premium sportsbook technology to multiple operators, the agreement aims to enhance the retail sports betting experience throughout the region.
Strategic Significance to Corporación Caliente
Corporación Caliente Chief Executive Eduardo Hernández Triana described the deal as a milestone for the company’s retail sports betting venture: “The partnership with IGT PlaySports to launch our new retail sports betting offering is an exciting milestone for Corporación Caliente and one that will excite sports fans in nine countries“, said Hernández Triana.
He pointed to the global experience of IGT and the adaptability of its IGT PlaySports platform as key factors behind the decision. “With IGT’s global experience and the flexibility and solidity of the IGT PlaySports platform, they are well-suited to help Corporación Caliente strengthen our betting product and deliver even more entertainment to our players.”
IGT’s Commitment to the Latin American Market
Joe Bertolone, IGT Senior Vice President of Sports Betting, emphasized the firm’s enthusiasm about entering new markets with this strategic alliance: “IGT PlaySports is thrilled to increase its technology and services footprint in Mexico and Latin America with our multi-year retail and commercial services agreement with Caliente, a premier sports betting operator in the region“, said Bertolone.
He also stated that the alliance was designed with a future vision in mind: “We have worked side-by-side with the Corporación Caliente team to bring a future-proofed solution and a complementary commercial services program that addresses regional requirements, evolves with future opportunities, and inspires sports fans.”
Strengthening the Retail Sports Betting Ecosystem
The alliance underscores the growing importance of retail sportsbooks in rapidly evolving Latin American sports betting markets. With online wagering continuing to gain steam, retail venues are still critical to building customer trust, facilitating face-to-face interaction, and creating brand presence in new markets.
By combining IGT’s technological expertise with Corporación Caliente’s established regional presence, the partnership is poised to set new standards for retail sports betting operations in Latin America. Incorporation of IGT PlaySports technology will enable enriched wagering experiences, rich risk management capabilities, and easy integration into existing gaming operations.
The alliance between Corporación Caliente and IGT PlaySports is a strategic alignment of market presence and technology. With nine markets and more than 140 sportsbooks fully deployed, the alliance is one of the most aggressive retail sports betting ventures to date in Latin America.
Industry analysts see this agreement as one of increasing investment in Latin America’s sports betting sector, with operators looking to place top priority on partnerships offering both state-of-the-art solutions and proven operating success. As regulatory conditions across the region continue to develop, such arrangements are likely to shape the competitive landscape for years to come.
