With the introduction of a pioneering Payment Providers Forum, the International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) has made a big move toward fortifying the safety and integrity of the Brazilian sports betting sector. The project seeks to shield the recently regulated sports betting sector in the nation from financial fraud linked to sports events being fixed.
Forum Objectives and Structure
Bazk, OKTO, Vpag, Pay4Fun, Z. ro Bank, and OneKey Payments, six well-known payment companies, participated in the Forum’s start. The primary aim is to promote cooperation among several interest groups so that Brazil has a safer, more responsible, and more effective betting environment. Particularly since its members are forecast to produce over 70% of gross income from remote gambling in the country, which represents over 70 firms and 140 betting brands worldwide be critical in safeguarding the integrity of the Brazilian market.
The success of the Forum depends greatly on how well payment providers are linked with financial institutions and regulatory bodies. Using IBIA’s worldwide understanding of trends and integrity problems in sports betting, meetings will be organized to debate and apply preemptive measures against financial fraud. Including collaborations with large sports organizations and gambling regulatory agencies, this monitoring network spans six continents.
Declaration of Commitments
The signatories of the Forum Declaration have committed to:
- Develop standards and best practices for payment processing.
- Collaborate with regulators to advocate for a fair and effective regulatory framework.
- Promote responsible gambling and the protection of consumers, the market, and sporting events.
- Share knowledge and experience to innovate and improve the payments ecosystem.
- Maintain high ethical standards and ensure regulatory compliance.
Khalid Ali, IBIA’s chief executive officer, said: “Cooperation between financial services, regulatory authorities, and betting operators is essential to address the challenges of financial fraud and maximize the potential of the sector in Brazil. IBIA is therefore pleased that these major payment institutions have agreed to explore collaborative activities to protect the market. Working together, we can create a sustainable and thriving sports betting market in Brazil that benefits all stakeholders.”
“Cross-sector partnership work is a core pillar of IBIA’s global activity, and the association will assess the potential benefits of replicating this group on a wider international stage,” he added.
Brazilian Market Context
The sports betting sector in Brazil is changing quickly and presents great chances for creative development and economic progress. Produced by H2 Gambling Capital, the report “The Availability of Sports Betting Products 2024” finds the Brazilian licensed sports betting market might produce US$34 billion in revenue by 2028.
IBIA’s Global Impact
Recently recognized with the ICE Landmark Award for its positive influence on protecting members and sporting events from match-fixing, IBIA is celebrating its twentieth anniversary in 2025. Authorities got 219 questionable betting alerts from the association’s 2024 integrity report, which led to thorough investigations and penalties for 17 teams, players, and officials.
During SBC Rio, the first Forum meeting is set to take place and IBIA welcomes other payment providers and financial institutions interested in fighting financial fraud connected to match-fixing in Brazil.
In essence, the IBIA Payment Providers Forum signals a new phase in preserving the integrity of sports betting in Brazil, establishes a benchmark for future partnerships, and strengthens the dedication to a just and safe marketplace.
