Playtech closed the first half of 2026 with results far stronger than expected, driven by its partnerships and investments in the Americas.
Adjusted EBITDA rose to €162.5 million, a sharp increase from the previous year, while margins expanded to 30%. The Group reported a pre‑tax profit from continuing operations of €113 million, compared with a €58.8 million loss in the same period a year earlier.
Profit after tax was also positive, rising from a €78.1 million loss to a €98.1 million profit.
The company credited much of this momentum to its strategic execution in the US, Canada and Latin America, alongside the continued success of Caliente Interactive and Hard Rock Digital.
Chief Executive Mor Weizer summed up the performance by saying, “Playtech has delivered a first half significantly ahead of our expectations at the start of the year, demonstrating the strength of our technology, the quality of our customer partnerships and the disciplined execution of our strategy.”
Americas drive growth and strategic expansion
The US and Canada were standout performers, with revenues climbing more than 160% year‑on‑year.
Playtech’s partnership with Hard Rock Digital proved especially important, with the Games powered by Past Motor Racing product in Florida delivering exceptional results, though management expects performance there to normalise in the second half.
Expansion into Connecticut brought Playtech’s regulated iGaming presence to six states, while new launches with Fanatics, FanDuel, DraftKings and Bet365 further strengthened its footprint.
Canada also offered fresh opportunities, with Ontario seeing additional launches and Alberta moving into a regulated framework in July. Latin America added another layer of growth, with Mexico and Colombia leading the way.
Caliente Interactive contributed €30.1 million in income, supported by strong sports and iGaming revenues during the FIFA World Cup, while Colombia doubled its revenue thanks to regulatory changes
Playtech also invested in Brazil, preparing for a major partnership expected later in the year.
Playtech expecting strong end to 2026 despite projected H2 decline
Looking ahead, Playtech expects adjusted EBITDA for the full year to exceed €270 million, hitting the top end of its medium‑term target range earlier than anticipated.
While H2 results are expected to be lower due to normalising revenue in Florida and the impact of higher UK gaming duties, management remains confident in the long‑term trajectory. Weizer emphasised that the Group’s balance sheet is strong and that it is well positioned to invest further while returning capital to shareholders.
“We see substantial opportunities for further growth and remain confident in the long‑term potential of the business,” Weizer said. With regulated markets now accounting for 84% of Group revenue, Playtech says its strategy of focusing on sustainable jurisdictions continues to bring success.
“Looking ahead, we are focused on extending our presence in regulated and regulating markets, deepening our customer relationships and continuing to invest in our products and technology offering including further leveraging the benefits of artificial intelligence,” he added.
