South Korea’s largest foreigner-only casino operator, Grand Korea Leisure Co Ltd (GKL), has made a strategic move by introducing an Artificial Intelligence (AI) innovation team. This move aligns with the national policy drive towards ‘AI transformation’ and reflects GKL’s determination to incorporate advanced technology in its casino business and customer services.
GKL made the announcement of the establishment of the AI innovation team in a Wednesday statement. The establishment of the team was deliberated during a meeting attended by CEO Yoon Doo-hyun, which served as a milestone in the digital transformation of the company.
Focus Areas for AI Integration
GKL’s AI strategy centers on three primary objectives: enhancing customer experiences, modernizing internal organizational operations, and positioning the company as a leader of the tourism industry’s digital transformation.
The AI team will work on crafting personalized casino experiences and digitizing related tourism services. Efforts will include integrating AI with enterprise resource planning systems to develop predictive business models. GKL also aims to foster collaboration between the public and private sectors to advance AI adoption throughout South Korea’s tourism landscape.
Previous AI Endeavors and Future Outlook
This launch is part of GKL’s earlier steps towards tech development. In April 2025, GKL partnered with Hyundai Robotics, a robotics company, to introduce AI-powered autonomous robots to its Seven Luck casinos, starting the process of automating customer service.
Financially, GKL’s recent trend is one of improvement. Its second-quarter net profit was almost KRW 16.96 billion (around US$12.1 million), a rise of 49.7 percent compared to the same quarter last year and an increase of 5.3 percent over the first quarter of 2025.
Casino Footprint and Market Presence
GKL runs three Seven Luck branded foreigner-only casinos, two of which are in Seoul, one in the high-end Gangnam area, and one in Busan. As a subsidiary of Korea Tourism Organization, under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, GKL is an integral part of South Korea’s tourism and gaming industry.
Commitment to Innovation and Responsible Gaming
GKL’s AI initiative is part of its overall strategic vision for supporting technological development with ethical gaming. Aware of AI’s potential to reshape customer interaction, business performance, and market dominance, the company puts significant priority on keeping up with trends in a competitive marketplace.
Towards a Digitally Enhanced Gaming Future
With the establishment of the AI innovation team, GKL is leading the digitalization of South Korea’s casino industry. By applying AI technologies, the company plans to provide more interactive and streamlined services, supporting the country’s overall modernization in the tourism and gaming sectors.
The development of GKL’s business through AI also highlights an increasing tendency across gaming operators worldwide, to welcome technology not just for enhancing business results but to also enhance customer interactions responsibly.
Leading South Korea’s Casino Tech Revolution
Grand Korea Leisure’s entry into AI innovation is a pivotal step to remain competitive during a fast-changing digital age. The proactive stance of the company should improve user experience, simplify processes, and firm up its position as a leading player in South Korea’s gaming sector. As AI incorporation becomes more sophisticated, GKL’s efforts can be the template for local and foreign operators looking to merge technology with entertainment brilliance.
