GLI Approved to Test Gaming Products in Uzbekistan

Gaming Laboratories International LLC has been officially listed by Uzbekistan’s National Agency of Perspective Projects as an accepted testing and certification laboratory for gaming products. The recognition allows gaming operators and suppliers to use GLI certification reports when seeking to introduce products to Uzbekistan’s regulated gaming market.

GLI announced the listing in a Tuesday press release. The company described Uzbekistan as an emerging gaming market in Central Asia and said the country’s regulated gaming sector was entering its operational phase.

Certification Reports Accepted

The NAPP listing means GLI’s testing and certification reports can be submitted by operators and suppliers as part of the process for bringing gaming products into the Uzbekistan market. The recognition creates a formal route for the company’s reports to be used under the country’s new regulatory framework.

GLI said 4 licenses had already been issued across 2 operators in Uzbekistan. The company’s recognition comes as the market moves from the establishment of its framework toward active operations.

Lucas Zavarise, GLI’s government and regulatory affairs manager for Europe, the Middle East, India, and Africa, said Uzbekistan was on track to become an important regulated market in Central Asia. He said GLI was among the first testing laboratories whose certification reports were accepted under the new framework.

Framework Still Being Developed

GLI said some elements of Uzbekistan’s technical framework were still being established. The testing and certification company remains in dialogue with NAPP as the agency continues refining the framework.

The ongoing discussions cover the country’s regulatory structure and the role that gaming technology testing and consultancy can play in the market’s longer-term development. GLI said it was continuing to engage with the regulator while technical requirements were being developed.

GLI representatives met NAPP officials earlier in August. The discussions focused on Uzbekistan’s new regulatory framework and how GLI could support the market as it develops.

Focus On Controlled Market Growth

Zavarise said NAPP leadership wanted gaming growth to take place in a controlled and sustainable way. He said GLI was prepared to apply its regulatory experience, as Uzbekistan and the wider Central Asian gaming market continued to develop.

The listing does not announce a new gaming operator, product launch, or additional license. Instead, it establishes GLI as a testing and certification laboratory whose reports are accepted for gaming products intended for the regulated Uzbekistan market.

The recognition covers the process used by operators and suppliers when seeking to introduce gaming products in the country. It also adds GLI to the early group of laboratories recognized under Uzbekistan’s new regulatory system.

New Market Enters Operational Phase

Uzbekistan’s regulated gaming market already has 4 licenses issued across 2 operators, according to GLI. The company’s listing comes as the market moves into its operational phase while parts of the technical framework continue to be finalized.

GLI said it was pleased to support the regulator’s work and remain involved in discussions over the framework. Its reports can now be used by operators and suppliers seeking to meet the certification requirements for products entering Uzbekistan.
