Gen Z Turns to AI for Debt Help as Gambling Remains Common

AI chatbots have been embraced by Gen Z consumers seeking assistance with debt, budgets, and financial planning, according to the survey conducted by National Debt Relief and Wakefield Research. It is evident that younger generations are receptive towards the use of such technologies, like ChatGPT, because they will have an opportunity to speak about their financial struggles without any judgment.

This comes amid the growing trend of gambling, especially through betting on sports games and predictions, among Generation Z individuals. The poll indicated that debt is a major reason some respondents gamble, even though gambling does not necessarily explain why their debt has increased.

National Debt Relief said younger Americans are willing to seek assistance with their finances, but the places where they look for that help are changing. The company said AI-powered chatbots have become a place where users can ask questions about income, spending, debt, and budgeting.

Chatbots Used for Financial Questions

According to the poll, 64% of Generation Z participants would consult chatbots in case of any problems related to debt issues. However, Millennials are even more inclined to use AI-based tools, as 69% of participants would use chatbots.

The users could ask such tools how to deal with their debt problems, budget planning, and improve their financial management. The survey suggested that chatbots appeal to younger users because they provide a space to discuss financial problems without personal judgment.

National Debt Relief Vice President of Customer Research & Insights Cathleen Bell said the data showed that younger Americans remain willing to seek help with their finances. However, she said their preferred sources of support are changing as chatbots become more available.

The survey also showed that some respondents were more comfortable discussing financial issues with a computer. Among Millennials, 63% said they felt better talking through their financial problems with a chatbot or computer.

For Gen Z, 53% said they were more comfortable talking about their financial difficulties with a computer. The results suggest that AI is being used as a financial support tool by people who may find it easier to discuss debt and budgeting through a digital platform.

Gambling Linked to Debt Concerns

The study found that some respondents continue to gamble while dealing with financial pressure. Out of the Gen Z participants, 65% were regular gamblers and said that gambling helped them because they had debts that they wanted to get out of.

In the case of millennials, it has been revealed that they also gamble to cope with their debts, as 49% revealed that gambling helps them do that. The figure was lower among Gen X respondents, at 39%.

Boomers had the lowest percentage among the groups included in the poll. Overall, 19% stated that they gamble in order to try to deal with debts.

It can be seen that some people see gambling as a potential solution to financial problems. However, the poll also indicated that many younger adults are separately looking for help through AI chatbots to handle debt and spending concerns.

Gen Z has been associated with sports betting and prediction markets, with some users treating gambling products as part of a financial strategy instead of only as entertainment.

Different Generations Seek Support

The survey compared how different generations respond to financial pressure. Although Gen Z had the highest percentage of respondents gambling in order to cope with debt problems, Millennials had the highest number of individuals using chatbots for assistance.

The results indicated that different generations may adopt different means in coping with their finances.
