Galerabet Gains International Visibility and Expands Its Role at Global Industry Events

Throughout 2025 so far, Galerabet has proven to be a prominent force within the international betting and gaming industry, as the company continues to integrate itself into the international scene through its various appearances at international betting and gaming events beyond the Brazilian marketplace. The company attended significant events such as SBC Lisboa, SBC Rio, BiS SiGMA, and IGI Brasília.

Such events presented opportunities for Galerabet, in addition to monitoring the trends, to interact with the regulators, technology, and the industry, thus solidifying the positioning of the firm as one that adheres to best practices in a regulated environment.

Participation in a High-Level Global Leadership Summit

One of the most notable international engagements of Galerabet took place in November at the Payment, Fraud & Compliance Gaming Leaders’ Summit (GLS) in Miami. This was a non-public event that was strictly reserved for top officials of the gaming sector. The meeting aimed to discuss the “future of gaming” as well as “compliance issues.”

As Brazil began the implementation of betting regulation in January 2025, the Brazilian market attracted particular attention in the form of a specific panel. In particular, the CEO of the firm Galerabet, Marcos Sabiá, presented a detailed market analysis with particular focus on payment systems, fraud protection, and regulation.

Brazil’s Payment Landscape Under Regulation

“We are entering a market entirely based on instant payments. Pix accounts for 97 percent of all transactions and will continue to be the protagonist, but with much stricter expectations around security and efficiency”, said Sabiá during his presentation.

He also spoke about the size of the sports betting market in Brazil, with the first half of 2025 seeing the industry produce US$3 billion of Gross Gaming Revenue and handle a total of US$87 billion of deposit/withdrawal volume. Speaking on the statistics, the executive said that the opportunity and complexity of the sector are evidenced by the above statistics.

Performance Over Cost as a Core Challenge

Sabiá emphasized that the central challenge for operators is not transaction cost, but system performance. “There is a lot of discussion about cents per transaction, but the real issue is failure. An operation that freezes or goes offline destroys engagement and trust. The market demands real instantaneity, near-absolute uptime, and zero friction”, he explained.

This phenomenon aligns with the larger trend that exists in this industry, where reliability and usability are key competitive elements, particularly within a regulatory space.

Emerging Trends in Payments and Compliance

During the panel, some of the trends emerging and gaining acceptance in the Brazilian market, as presented by Sabia, include the adoption of automated Pix flow engagement, biometric identity validation, and payment orchestration.

“We are entering a phase in which payments stop being just transactions and become technology. Everything needs to be predictable, auditable, and scalable”, he stated.

Fraud prevention was another key topic addressed, encompassing both financial fraud, such as Pix-related attacks and bonus abuse, and sports-related fraud, including illegal arbitrage and match manipulation.

“Regulation requires a unified ecosystem that connects operators, payment service providers, KYC suppliers, public authorities, and sports entities. Without integration, there will be no control”, Sabiá added.

Beyond Pix: Advanced Technologies Shaping the Future

Looking ahead, the CEO went on to mention the growth of new technologies beyond Pix, like Open Finance, tokenized deposits, and real-time engines for compliance directly integrated into the payment process. “Brazil has the most advanced payments market in the world. The regulated industry will demand that everyone keep up with this pace, which means end-to-end applied technology,” he concluded.

As Galerabet increasingly participates in and becomes represented throughout the global market, it continues to place itself as a relevant voice within the industry as a whole, specifically in relation to regulation, payments, and innovation.
