The partnership will see the sports betting brand become the first official betting partner in the history of the championship, with the deal set to come into force at the start of the 2026 Formula 1 season.
The deal will cover various key international markets, including Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Canada, and Mexico, marking a significant milestone in the betting partnerships within the world of international motorsport.
The partnership will also see ALT Sports Data become the official betting data provider for Formula 1, providing real-time predictive analytics based on Formula 1’s historical and live data sets, as well as the development of proprietary odds and betting products for the sport.
The partnership marks the first of its kind within the betting ecosystem of Formula 1 and is set to see the championship move towards the incorporation of data-based fan engagement tools within the sport.
Live Betting to Focus on Race Strategy and Real-Time Data
The live betting will focus on various aspects of the race strategy and will rely heavily on the live data generated during the event. The millions of data points collected during the event will include information ranging from the performance of the tires to the lap times, the strategies adopted during the event, and the weather conditions, among many other things.
The fans will be able to place live bets through the Betway platform, with fans aged 18+ in the eligible markets able to bet on various aspects of the race strategy and the dynamics of the race through the Betway platform.
The live betting will include predictions based on the following:
Safety car deployments
Pit stop windows and strategy decisions
On-track battles between drivers
Key race developments influenced by team tactics
By utilizing the official and authentic data feeds, the initiative aims to ensure that the betting odds reflect the actual real-time information provided through the direct insights of the Formula 1 operations.
The initiative also marks the beginning of the 2026 season, which promises to be one of the most anticipated in the 76-year history of the sport due to the introduction of new technical rules that aim to promote the highest level of technological advancement in the sport.
Executives Highlight New Opportunities for Fan Engagement
According to Jonny Haworth, the Director of Commercial Partnerships at Formula 1, the initiative marks the new era of fan engagement through the new form of betting that is becoming increasingly popular. “Sports betting is now a natural extension of how many modern fans engage with live events. As a series with vast and complex data sets, our innovative partnership with Betway allows our adult fans to get closer to the strategy and action that makes Formula 1 so exciting.”
Haworth also explained that the new initiative, based on the actual data feeds, opens new avenues for the fans to interact with the sport: “While betting and sport have always gone hand in hand, this new product offering based on regulated and real-time data takes Formula 1 into a new cutting-edge dimension that delivers even greater engagement and excitement for fans.”
Neal Menashe, the CEO of Super Group, also emphasized the strategic significance of the new initiative for the Betway brand: “We are very pleased to sign the first agreement of this kind for our Betway sports betting brand in Formula 1. This partnership reinforces our commitment to sport at the highest level and will ensure our customers have access to some of the most innovative markets during race weekends.”
He concluded by noting the expectations for the upcoming championship: “It promises to be a competitive season with fantastic races around the world – and we look forward to being part of it.”
This partnership is an indication of how data, digital, and sports betting have come together, especially for major competitions like Formula 1.
