New revelations regarding Flamengo forward Bruno Henrique have rocked the football and betting industries of Brazil along with many other sectors. Suspicious betting activity was discovered just before a game in which the player reportedly forced a yellow card, a report from the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) delivered to the Federal Police (PF) claimed.
The CBF report showed that several wagering accounts were launched only one day prior the relevant game. These records were only used to make high-stakes wagers on Bruno Henrique getting a yellow card, therefore, they raised obvious red flags. An unusual trend implying insider information was bettors’ total bets without diversification.
A Profit-Driven Scheme
On November 1, 2023, the match at the Mané Garrincha Stadium pitted Santos against Flamengo. Fourteen questionable bets made by nine people, including relatives and friends of Bruno Henrique, were found by the Federal Police investigation. Although the player personally did not bet, the plan reportedly presented more than R$11,000 in return on an initial investment of R$5,642.58. R$1,425 represented the largest individual bet; R$350, the smallest.
Betting sites like Betano, Galerabet, and KTO noted the activity owing to the unusual rise in betting activity focused on a low-probability event (Henrique receiving a card). Ranging from 2.85 to 3.10, the odds for this event showed a payout for an effect considered improbable to occurestimated at a 15% chance.
Started in November 2024, “Operation Spot Fixing” was based on dubious activity and flagged wagering. Potential formal charges against the player await pending review by the Public Ministry of the Federal District and Territories (MPDFT).
Insider Information and Unpaid Winnings
Six of the nine people engaged are thought to have gotten privileged information. The inquiry has not verified whether payments were made in return for this information, but the mere involvement of player family members compounds the scandal’s seriousness.

An Ambassador Turned Suspect

BetPix365 is not brought up in the Federal Police’s latest report, but the yellow card event during his ambassadorship begs ethical and legal questions because of its timing.
