The board of the Brazilian Federation of Lottery Companies (Febralot) participated in a top-level institutional meeting with the Government Leadership in the Chamber of Deputies in Brazil. The congressman, Jose Guimarães (PT–CE), the floor leader of the government, and the union representatives in the lottery industry attended it.
Representatives of Febralot and lottery network included Ricardo Amado Costa, President of Febralot; Custodio Albano, President of Ceara Lottery Union (Sindiloce); Flavia Januario, President of Alagoas Lottery Union; and Urbano Simao, Parliamentary Advisor.
The meeting was also characterized by a free discussion, active listening, and the desire to be sensitive to the issues raised by the lottery network, which once again confirmed the institutional topicality of the sector nationally.
Recognition of the Lottery Network’s National Role
Congressman Jose Guimarães, who participated in the discussion, showed his clear knowledge of the significance of lottery retailers in Brazil. He also embraced the needs of the sector with seriousness and promised that he would be keen on ensuring that he plays a leading role in empowering the category in the country.
The atmosphere of the meeting was constructive, where the issues and opportunities of the lottery network were discussed in a practical and respectful manner. As the participants claimed, the discussion was fruitful and promising in terms of further collaboration between the political administration and the representatives of the lottery.
A Network Present in Nearly Every Brazilian Municipality
The lottery network in Brazil is very strategic in the social and economic growth of the country. The industry now has 13,109 units spread throughout the national territory and reaches 98% of Brazilian municipalities.
Moreover, it will also create about 70,000 direct jobs. In addition to gaming, lottery retailers also offer essential services to the population, as well as contribute to the financial inclusion of the population, and support the local economies, especially those found in smaller cities where access to banking and payment services may be restricted.
The availability of the capillary makes the lottery network a point of contact between citizens and the services of law and order, which strengthens the network in its applicability in the daily lives of the entire country.
Strengthening Institutional Representation
Programs such as this gathering indicate that institutional dialogue and action between Febralot and regional unions are important. It is perceived that ensuring that the demands of the category are reflected in the spheres of decision-making is the key to the sustainability and modernization of the sector.
The interaction between the representative bodies and the political leadership also demonstrates the increased awareness that the network of lotteries is not only an agent in the economy, but also a social infrastructure that sustains millions of Brazilians on a daily basis.
Ongoing Commitment to the Sector’s Development
Febralot reasserted that it was dedicated to protecting the interests of the lottery network and that it would act in a combined fashion with unions and political leaders. The idea is to keep on developing a sector that is more robust, appreciated, and sustainable across Brazil.
As the institutional discourse goes further, the federation and its allies want to make sure that the lottery network has become an indispensable and accepted part of the Brazilian economic and social structure.
