It is worth noting that the initiative associated with building a program focused on the integrity of competitions has now become an integral element of public policy in Brazil. The program is intended to educate athletes to prevent any manipulations.
It was developed with the assistance of Esportes Gaming Brasil, the owner of the Esportes da Sorte brand, as well as Sportradar. It has been introduced into practice with the participation of the Ministry of Sport and the National Association of Games and Lotteries (ANJL).
Education Platform Created for the Prevention of Bet-fixing
In particular, the platform in question, which has already been used by Esportes da Sorte with its partner, Sportradar, has been implemented into practice as a part of the integrity agenda in Brazil.
As stated above, it was developed specifically to teach players to identify and prevent match-fixing cases. In this context, it should be emphasized that previously, it was implemented exclusively at some sports clubs like Corinthians, Ceará, Náutico, and Ferroviária.
A Private-Sector Initiative Brought to Life
During a recent gaming industry conference held in São Paulo, the platform was presented by Darwin Filho who is the CEO of Esportes Gaming Brasil. According to the representative of the corporation in question, this initiative demonstrates the main principle that is the key to solving problems related to integrity.
“We consider the prevention to be one of the most powerful weapons against the mentioned threat. The platform has been created to give athletes the necessary knowledge and skills in order to respond to these challenges in time. We are convinced that this will allow us to create a safer environment“, he said.
Transition to Public Policy: An Approach Worth Copying
As shown by the current situation, it would be appropriate to implement the strategy based on the transition from private initiatives to public policies in all regulated markets.
As can be seen, the target audience of this initiative is composed of athletes who practice different types of sports that are associated with betting. It is expected that the platform will start working in May, giving athletes access to reliable information.
Plínio Lemos Jorge, the President of the ANJL, expressed his view on the importance of the issue under discussion. “Bet-fixing has nothing to do with the activities of professional and regulated betting firms. These companies operate both in Brazil and in other countries and even have shares on stock exchanges. Therefore, it is crucial that they are able to act honestly“, he said.
The Content Is Developed and Validated by Everyone
All materials available on the platform are organized in a certain way and are thoroughly checked by all partners before they can be published.
“An important aspect of this partnership project is that our educational program is going to provide law enforcement organizations with the possibility to interpret integrity reports more effectively and conduct their work accordingly“, stressed Felippe Marchetti, the Integrity Director for Latin America at Sportradar.
Undoubtedly, it can be considered a rather smart move to implement this initiative into life. It will help to solve several issues at once.
