In a symbolic move bridging the gaming universe and Brazilian culture, Esportes da Sorte has inked a historic 12-month contract with the City of Salvador. The agreement, signed on Wednesday, names the betting website as an official sponsor of a portfolio of premier city events from December 2025. The sponsorship package includes the Salvador Carnival, the world’s biggest street party, and the Virada Salvador festival, the company’s first official foray into sponsoring Salvador’s largest party.
The contract was signed in the Palacete Tira-Chapéu in the Historic Center of Salvador, with singer Léo Santana, a brand ambassador and carnival fixture, in attendance. Esportes Gaming Brasil CEO Darwin Filho, holding company of Esportes da Sorte, framed the agreement as a long-term investment in the city beyond branding. He presented a vision to contribute to enriching Salvador’s traditions, strengthening local culture, and creating unique experiences for revelers, pointing to a dedication to social impact alongside entertainment.
A Strategic Expansion in Cultural Sponsorship
The new sponsorship is a strategic expansion of Esportes da Sorte’s national sponsorship portfolio. The brand already holds sponsorship rights to other top cultural events, including Recife and Olinda’s Carnivals, the Galo da Madrugada block, and the Parintins Festival. Esportes Gaming Brasil Vice President, Marcela Campos, emphasized that the addition of Salvador is a necessary step in completing the company’s presence in events that reflect Brazilian diversity and identity. Mayor Bruno Reis underscored the value of the partnership, saying that after an initial attempt, the city is pleased to have Esportes da Sorte on board as an official sponsor of its annual programming, the pièce de résistance of which is the Carnival.
Economic Impact and Broader Event Calendar
The economic scale of the events in question underscores the extent to which the partnership can reach. According to official city tourism authority statistics, Saltur, the 2025 Carnival featured over 700 attractions, generated over 250,000 jobs, and had a calculated economic impact of R$1.8 billion. The Virada Salvador event has drawn crowds of up to two million people in past editions, with 300,000 recorded in a single night in 2025 and a total financial transaction of R$500 million. The sponsorship extends to these mega-events and also covers the City Festival, which unites approximately 1.5 million individuals, the Spring Festival, and Salvador Capital Afro, a celebration of Black identity that gives business opportunities to hundreds of local entrepreneurs and artists.
A federally licensed operator in the Ministry of Finance, Esportes da Sorte emphasizes its commitment to responsible gaming and industry regulation. The company, which is part of a group that has been recognized as a Great Place to Work, also maintains master sponsorship contracts with several Brazilian football clubs. The extensive partnership with Salvador places the brand at the forefront of Brazil’s most conspicuous cultural expressions, aligning its corporate image with national celebration and significant economic life. By inserting itself into the fabric of these traditions, Esportes da Sorte aims to establish a closer connection with the Brazilian people and make a considerable investment in Brazil’s social and cultural economy.
