The government of Equatorial Guinea has taken a major step toward regulating the digital gaming sector, officially launching a new legal framework for online betting and casino platforms.
Under the new system, all online gaming activities — including betting and virtual casinos — will now be subject to official rules and oversight. The goal is to bring transparency to the industry, ensure player protection, and create a stable environment for international operators looking to do business in the country.
As part of this initiative, a master license has been awarded to Mascott Capital Partners, a license management company that will serve as the primary gateway for international gaming companies interested in entering the Equatoguinean market. Through Mascott’s online platform, operators will be able to apply for licenses and manage their compliance with the country’s new gaming regulations.
The framework lays out the application process, compliance standards, and financial requirements for license holders, forming what officials describe as a robust foundation for a regulated online gaming ecosystem.
H.E. Antonio-Pedro Oliveira Burupu, who heads the Ministry for Tourism and Tourism Infrastructure, called the move a landmark moment for the country’s gaming industry.
“The launch of online gaming, online betting, and online casinos in Equatorial Guinea is one of the most significant measures taken by gaming regulators in our history,”
he said.
“Mascott Capital Partners’ digital platform will help facilitate the submission of license applications.”
He also noted that the framework positions Equatorial Guinea as a serious destination for international iGaming businesses while also contributing to economic diversification and building trust among users.
“This is a meaningful step toward making Equatorial Guinea a recognized jurisdiction for remote gaming, It invites international investment into the digital space and helps strengthen consumer confidence in the services provided here.”
Burupu added.
The government hopes the new regulations will attract reputable operators, encourage growth in the digital economy, and set the country apart as a credible player in the global iGaming industry.
