DraftKings Wins Michigan Approval to Expand Multi-State Poker

DraftKings’ poker tables are now open to a shared pool of players across Michigan, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.

The Michigan Gaming Control Board confirmed the approval, noting that the decision was made possible through DraftKings’ partnership with the Bay Mills Indian Community. “This approval reflects the strength of our partnership with Bay Mills Indian Community and the thoroughness of our regulatory process,” said Henry Williams, the board’s executive director.

Residents in all three states have already been able to join the shared network since July 8, when DraftKings quietly rolled out the product.

FanDuel is a well-established operator in the Michigan gaming market,” Williams added. “Michigan players can have confidence in the integrity of the games they play, backed by the same rigorous oversight the MGCB applies across all licensed gaming activity.”

DraftKings continue to diversify offerings

DraftKings’ expansion in Michigan builds on a long history of partnerships and licences across different states. The company teamed up with Bay Mills Resort and Casino in 2020 to bring its sportsbook to Michigan after the repeal of PASPA, while its Pennsylvania licence was secured around the same time.

In New Jersey, DraftKings has been active since 2018, when the state led the push to overturn the federal ban on online sports betting.

Poker is not where DraftKings first made its mark, but the operator introduced its Electric Poker product on its online casino platform in 2024.

Since then, it has continued to broaden its portfolio. In June, DraftKings launched DKEX, its own prediction market exchange, and earlier this year it outlined plans for a “super app” that would combine gaming, lottery, and prediction products under one roof.
