Days after announcing its entry into the Brazilian market, DigiPlus Interactive Corp is taking further steps to broaden its international reach by applying for online gaming licenses in South Africa.
The company submitted its application to the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board (WCGRB) for three operator licenses that encompass manufacturing, bookmaking, and the establishment of bookmaker premises.
Recognized for its robust regulatory framework and openness to online gaming, the WCGRB is seen as a prime jurisdiction for digital gaming operators.
“The filing of our online gaming licence in South Africa marks another milestone in DigiPlus’ global growth journey, as we bring our proven track record of innovation, responsible gaming and player protection, together with our strength in localising games for diverse markets, to one of Africa’s most dynamic economies,” stated DigiPlus Chairman Eusebio Tanco.
Second international push in September
This recent move marks DigiPlus’s second international venture in September, coming just two days after the company made its official entry into the Brazilian market with the launch of its GamePlus brand.
The recent regulatory shifts in Brazil have opened doors for international operators, and DigiPlus has recognized this market as a key area of focus alongside the Philippines.
In addition to its expansion efforts, DigiPlus is also rumored to be exploring the acquisition of Melco Resorts’ stake in City of Dreams Manila. While the company is actively looking at potential acquisition opportunities as part of its growth strategy, it has confirmed that no concrete agreement is in place yet.
If DigiPlus successfully secures its licenses in South Africa, it could enhance its digital portfolio and tap into a growing market for online sports betting and gaming, which has been gaining momentum under regulated frameworks. The company plans to keep stakeholders updated on the progress of its license applications as developments unfold.
