The Diamond Poker Club & Sportbar is set to officially open its doors in João Pessoa this Thursday (15), introducing a new large-scale entertainment, leisure, and betting complex to the capital of Paraíba. Located on Avenida João Maurício, directly in front of Manaíra Beach, the venue brings together poker, live sports broadcasts, authorized lottery games, a sports bar, cocktail lounge, and high-end gastronomy in a single, integrated space.
The inauguration ceremony is set to start at 7:00 p.m. and is expected to be attended by special guests from public and private institutions. Its design as a modern and multi-purpose venue ends up creating 150 jobs in the economy directly and indirectly, and reiterates its significance to the economy.
Multiple Experiences Under One Roof
Diamond Poker Club & Sportbar integrates several well-known brands and experiences, including Lotto Master, Realeza da Sorte, JPT – Joker’s Poker Tour, and HAO. These attractions coexist within a 1,200-square-meter facility capable of accommodating up to 400 people simultaneously, offering visitors a diversified entertainment experience in a sophisticated and controlled environment.
The space offers a sports bar where major sports transmissions are live, coupled with a poker club that operates on an associate scheme. The sports bar and poker club are complemented by a high-end food and beverages business that offers culinary masterpieces endorsed by celebrated Brazilian chef Onildo Rocha, whose culinary expertise is well-known in Brazil as it blends traditional cuisine with modern food.
Regulatory Structure and Legal Separation
A prominent feature of the Diamond complex is the distinct division of structures pertaining to the legal, regulatory, operational, and accounting frameworks for each of the different business segments. Licensed lotteries are fully autonomous and supervised by the Lottery of the State of Paraíba (LOTEP) with respect to models including fixed-odds betting and instant lotteries.
The complex’s administration highlighted its regulatory devotion, saying, “Diamond is born with the proposal of offering an integrated, safe, transparent, and fully regulated experience, inspired by the best international practices in the gaming and betting sector, positioning João Pessoa as one of Brazil’s emerging capitals of regulated entertainment.”
Significantly, every activity taking place inside the gaming venue operates independently with no operational or financial tie with other types of gaming activity, whether gastronomic, poker gaming, or sports entertainment.
Governance, Public Policy Alignment, and Economic Impact
Manaíra Vip is charged with the administration of the Diamond complex as it relates to the reception, organization, security, and institutional services. It does not conduct any gaming or betting activities and only serves the purpose of an administrative organization.
The business model adopted by Diamond aligns with state-level public lottery policy and respects the constitutional competence of Brazilian states to operate lottery services. This structure is supported by rulings from the Federal Supreme Court (STF) in ADPFs 492 and 493, which reinforced states’ authority in this area.
Apart from entertainment activities, it aims at contributing to the formalization of the gaming market, consumer protection, combating illegal gambling, and maximizing tax revenue. It will further help in encouraging local economic development by creating a new leisure brand that incorporates regulation, entertainment, and gaming.
