Big Time Gaming Background

Big Time Gaming, or BTG as it’s often called, is an old and well-regarded casino game provider. It was founded in 2011 in Australia.

It’s primarily known for developing the insanely popular Megaways mechanic, which has made it a household brand in the market. That’s especially true when you consider that it licenses this mechanic to a large number of providers, so you’re likely to see its name in almost every online casino on the market.

However, it’s also known for its innovation and for producing unique, high-quality games, starting with Bonanza Megaways, which introduced us to the Megaways mechanic in 2016.

As of late, the company has had its TopCards games to boast about, along with sequels to its massively popular titles like White Rabbit 2, Castle of Terror 2, Star Clusters 2, and Danger High Voltage 2.

The focus on quality is seen in the small number of around 80 slot games by Big Time Gaming.

Evolution, one of the biggest brands in iGaming, acquired BTG for $534.5m back in 2021.

As for awards, BTG has won a few, including the Best iGaming Software Experience Award in 2017 from Casinomeister.

Top 5 Big Time Gaming Slots

If you want to try one or more Big Time Gaming demo slot games, we’ve got you covered. Here’s a handpicked selection of five slots we believe are the best BTG has to offer.

Bonanza Megaways

Bonanza Megaways is the most famous BTG game and one of the most legendary online slots overall. If you want to try a free slot by Big Time Gaming, this is the game to start with.

It’s a 96% RTP video slot with 117,649 ways to win and just 6 reels. The Megaways mechanic was introduced in this game, but it also offers a free spins round with multipliers and a max win of 26,000x the stake.

White Rabbit

White Rabbit is another famous Big Time Gaming slot, with an incredibly high RTP of 97.77%. It also uses the Megaways mechanic. It boasts a max win of 13,000x.

What makes the game special is that it offers standard slot features with the Megaways mechanic and a very high RTP, which inevitably makes the features more rewarding. This includes wilds, free spins, and multipliers of up to 3x.

Star Clusters Megaclusters

Star Clusters Megaclusters is the first BTG slot to introduce the Megaclusters feature, which lets you form large winning clusters of symbols and subsequent cascades.

Other than that, the game is known for its above-average RTP of 96.54%, free spins that trigger with five scatters, and wilds with multipliers.

Fireworks Megaways

Fireworks Megaways deserves a spot here as it has the biggest max win of all Big Time Gaming slot games, sitting at a whopping 150,335x the bet.

It’s a highly volatile slot with a good RTP that’s slightly above average. It also offers the Reaction feature, which removes winning symbols and allows new ones to appear, giving you a shot at winning an even bigger prize.

Extra Chilli Megaways

Extra Chilli Megaways is yet another cult game from BTG, also using the provider’s signature Megaways mechanic. However, it changes the dynamic by placing a separate row outside the grid, right below reels 2, 3, 4, and 5.

It’s somewhat of a follow-up to Bonanza Megaways, but still an excellent game in its own right, judging by the massive crowd of players it attracted.

Themes & Features

BTG games often revolve around themes you’ve come to expect from slot games, like Christmas, fantasy, fairytales, foods, but also many other, more original elements that don’t often come into play in the slot market.

As for features, you’ve learned about many of them so far, but let’s take a closer look at the top ones.

Megaways

This is the most famous BTG mechanic, the crown jewel of the company’s portfolio. Megaways add a random reel modifier that changes the number of symbols that can land on each spot, effectively massively increasing the number of ways you can make winning combinations.

Megaclusters

Megaclusters is a mechanic that changes the standard, yet overused, cluster pay mechanic. In essence, whenever you create a win cluster, it splits into four smaller symbols. If they form a winning combination, they disappear and allow new ones to land in their place.

Megapays

Together with Relax Gaming, BTG developed Megapays, a global progressive jackpot system. There are four tiered jackpots, with the biggest often reaching prize pools in the millions, giving players a chance to win something akin to a lottery.

Other Games

Big Time Gaming has always focused solely on slots. However, within that format, it created a bunch of unique games that go beyond what simple online slot games offer.

One of the best examples is Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. It’s a hybrid game that primarily functions as a slot, with game-show elements pulled straight from this timeless quiz show.

Other than that, you also get the TapCards games, a mix of instant-win scratch cards and slots, with the scratch card element being the dominant one.

It’s worth adding that BTG also doesn’t feature other popular casino game types like table and live casino games because it’s a subsidiary of Evolution, the king of live casino games, which releases these under its own name.

Bottom Line on Big Time Gaming

Big Time Gaming is one of the most famous online slot makers on the planet, the company that introduced the vastly successful Megaways mechanics with its Bonanza Megaways slot.

It’s one of those providers you truly can’t miss out on today, despite it having a low number of games, with the biggest hits being older releases. They still hold their own today, so try them to see what makes BTG so special.
