Can You Still Start an iGaming Affiliate Business in 2026?

We’ve previously written about how the affiliate industry has become significantly more difficult over the past few years. That’s why I found a question I received recently particularly interesting:

“Is it too late to start an iGaming affiliate business in 2026?”

A lot of people will probably rush to answer “yes”.

“Affiliates are dying.”
“SEO is dead.”
“There’s no room left for new players.”

To be honest, I’ve probably been guilty of thinking the same way myself at times. But if you zoom out and look at the industry from a broader perspective, the reality may actually be a little different.

What Used to Work No Longer Works

This is one of the main reasons why many affiliates who have been in the industry for years now say things like:

“It doesn’t work anymore.”
“The odds are against you.”
“Competition has never been harder.”

We say this because many of us have struggled to adapt. The strategies that built successful affiliate businesses five or ten years ago simply don’t work the same way anymore.

You can no longer buy a domain, set aside a budget for links, publish poor content at scale and expect to build a strong business. That era is largely over — and honestly, that’s probably a good thing.

A lot of experienced affiliates are frustrated because the game has changed faster than they expected. We don’t always understand how everything works anymore, and we don’t always know how to adjust.

I’m almost 40 myself, and I still remember trying to explain to my parents how someone could make money from a website. My father, who used to be a journalist, still hasn’t fully understood the concept — even though, in many ways, it is not that far removed from traditional publishing.

The same applies to many of us who have been in the affiliate game for a long time. We sometimes assume that it is no longer possible because it no longer works the way it used to work for us.

But if you’re entering the iGaming industry today without all that baggage, your perspective may be completely different.

You may have grown up with TikTok, Snapchat, YouTube Shorts, Discord, Roblox and a very different relationship with technology. You don’t remember Google Panda or Penguin. You haven’t spent years creating 6,000-word articles just because that was what supposedly ranked.

And because of that, you may actually have an advantage.

Experience is valuable — but only if it helps you think forward. Sometimes experience becomes a limitation because it keeps you attached to strategies that no longer work.

New affiliates don’t think backwards. They think in terms of attention, distribution and speed.

That mindset matters a lot in 2026.

It Has Never Been Easier Technically

Only a few years ago, it was easy to tell whether a website was owned by a large affiliate company with a serious budget or by a newcomer.

The big players had expensive custom-built websites, advanced development teams and polished branding. Smaller affiliates often relied on basic WordPress themes, limited functionality and a visual identity that looked homemade.

Today, that gap is much smaller.

AI tools, no-code platforms, modern CMS systems and affordable design resources have made it possible for almost anyone to launch something that looks professional.

In many cases, you can no longer tell whether a website cost €100,000 to build or €100.

There are obviously exceptions, but in general, the technical class divide has become much smaller.

The same applies to content production.

Some people still strongly believe that human-written content is the only sustainable approach. Others use hybrid workflows, combining editors with AI. Some are almost entirely AI-driven.

Regardless of where you stand in that debate, one thing is hard to deny:

It has never been cheaper, faster or less resource-intensive to produce content.

That lowers the barrier to entry dramatically for new affiliates.

New Channels Can Create Hyper Growth

I remember the first time I saw gambling streamers becoming a real thing. My immediate reaction was something like this:

“This looks like a lot of work just to get players.”

“This will never work.”

“Why would an operator pay for exposure to the same audience when a new operator will be promoted next week?”

Fast forward to 2026, and streaming has become one of the biggest acquisition channels in the industry, especially among younger audiences.

And it’s not just streaming.

You now have Telegram, TikTok, Snapchat, Meta platforms, Discord, YouTube Shorts and a long list of creator-driven communities and traffic channels.

If your primary focus as a new affiliate is to find traffic as quickly as possible, there have arguably never been more opportunities available.

The problem for many established affiliates is that they often see the obstacles before they see the opportunity. Years of experience can sometimes make people overly cautious.

A good example of this is what happened during the crypto boom.

Several large crypto affiliates eventually pivoted into iGaming using traffic methods, creator models and community strategies that had already worked in crypto. Within only a few years, some of them became major iGaming affiliates.

Meanwhile, many established iGaming affiliates were still sitting around, wondering whether these methods would even work.

That says a lot about how quickly the industry can shift.

FTDs Have Never Been Better Business

Another important factor is that FTDs have never been better paid than they are in 2026.

Even relatively small volumes can generate strong revenue if the traffic quality is good and the market is right.

A business producing 10–40 FTDs per month today can, in the right markets, generate the kind of revenue that previously required 100–200 FTDs.

That changes the economics for smaller affiliates.

You no longer need to rank for the biggest keywords or generate huge volumes immediately to build something profitable.

If you manage to get past 40 FTDs per month, you are not only looking at meaningful CPA and revenue share income. You may also be able to negotiate fixed deals.

Deals that were previously reserved for the largest affiliates are now achievable at smaller volumes and much earlier in the growth journey.

So How Do You Start an iGaming Affiliate Business in 2026?

Everyone enters the industry from a different starting point.

But let’s say you are starting without a large budget, without significant savings and without a big investor behind you.

Then you need to think differently.

You should probably start by asking yourself a few simple questions:

How can I create cash flow as quickly as possible?

How can I build cash flow over time?

How can I stand out?

What problems do operators currently have?

Where is attention moving next?

If you are starting completely from scratch, it is usually a mistake to blindly follow what everyone else is already doing.

In iGaming, it has often paid off to think outside the box. Go against the crowd instead of following it.

We see this with affiliates who choose to focus on markets that are not yet on everyone’s radar. We also see it with affiliates who use methods and traffic sources that more traditional players either ignore or dismiss.

The biggest opportunities rarely look obvious in the beginning.

Affiliate Isn’t Dead — It’s Just Different

The truth is that affiliate marketing in iGaming is absolutely harder than it used to be.

But that does not mean the opportunity is gone.

It simply means the rules have changed.

If your strategy is to launch another generic casino site with AI-generated reviews and hope to rank in Google, then yes — the odds are probably against you.

But if you understand distribution, communities, content and audience-building, there are still enormous opportunities available.

Traffic remains one of the most valuable assets in the industry.

The methods used to generate that traffic are simply evolving faster than many people expected.

It is also worth remembering that many of today’s largest affiliates barely existed a few years ago. A lot of them came from outside traditional iGaming, bringing completely different experiences and perspectives into the market.

They were not restricted by old ways of thinking.

And that may be the biggest advantage new affiliates have today.

You do not necessarily need the most money, the largest team or decades of experience.

Sometimes you just need to see opportunities that others are too comfortable — or too cynical — to notice.

So, can you still start an iGaming affiliate business in 2026?

Yes.

But probably not the same way people did five or ten years ago.

Some Final Advice for Anyone Who Wants to Start as an Affiliate in 2026

It has been a few years since I was actively working as an affiliate myself, but there are still a few pieces of advice I would give anyone looking to enter the industry in 2026.

Some of them may sound obvious. Others may be things you have not thought about yet.

The first piece of advice is simple: try to operate honestly and with integrity.

iGaming is a large industry on the surface, but once you have been around for a while, you realize that the core network is actually quite small. People talk, reputations matter and relationships follow you for years.

That does not mean you should undersell yourself. It does not mean you should avoid difficult conversations or accept bad deals.

It simply means you should stay grounded.

Burning bridges rarely pays off in the long run.

The second piece of advice is to develop a strong bullshit radar.

Think for yourself and make your own decisions.

It can be tempting to jump on every new trend or follow whatever everyone is suddenly talking about. But the really good ideas are rarely found in crowded Teams calls, Telegram groups or WhatsApp chats.

Take inspiration from others if you want to, but build your own understanding of the market.

Do not blindly follow the crowd.

A strong independent mindset is one of the biggest advantages you can have in this industry.

The third piece of advice is to remember that after sunshine comes rain.

If you have worked in iGaming for a few years, it is actually quite incredible to look back at how many unexpected changes, market shifts, algorithm updates, regulatory changes and operator situations the industry has gone through.

Things can change very quickly.

That is why building runway for difficult periods is so important.

The affiliates who survive long-term are usually not only the ones who make the most money during the good times. They are the ones who prepare properly for the bad times.

That is often what separates the affiliates who stand the test of time from those who slowly fade away.

The final piece of advice is probably the most important one:

Choose the right partners.

There are many good operators in iGaming, but unfortunately there are also companies that do not always have a long-term perspective.

If you want to succeed with iGaming affiliation, you need to work with the right operators.

The partners you choose will have a major impact on your stability, your reputation, your long-term earnings and your ability to grow.

That is why we have also created an overview of the best affiliate programs for 2026, which you can find here.

Good luck.
