In its first major announcement since its rebrand from International Game Technology (IGT) in July, Brightstar Lottery PLC has landed an eight-year contract with the Missouri Lottery to implement its OMNIA™ integrated lottery platform. This upgrade is set to enhance both retail and digital operations, aiming to streamline systems and improve the overall experience for players.
The OMNIA platform will connect retail and digital lottery channels, making operations simpler and more efficient. As part of the deal, Brightstar plans to introduce features, such as Connected Play, second-chance promotions, and a loyalty program to boost customer engagement.
The agreement also includes a significant hardware rollout, providing Missouri Lottery retailers with 5,250 Retailer Pro S2 terminals, 2,220 GameTouch™ 28 self-service units, and various other gaming and display equipment. These upgrades aim to enhance reliability and flexibility at the point of sale, ensuring that retailers can serve customers effectively.
“For more than 30 years, the Missouri Lottery has relied on Brightstar’s world-class technology and insight to help contribute more than $8.5 billion to public education throughout our state. We are excited to build upon this long-term partnership over the course of the next eight years and deliver new, premier experiences for our players,” Lester Elder, Missouri Lottery Executive Director, expressed excitement about the partnership.
Scott Gunn, Brightstar Chief Operating Officer, North America Lottery, added, “Brightstar is honored to support the Missouri Lottery as it embraces the evolving lottery landscape and implements innovative solutions that will increase flexibility to manage its operations and engage players in new ways. We look forward to delivering these high-performing solutions, while helping the Lottery achieve its goals of maximizing funds to education.”
With this contract, Brightstar strengthens its presence in the North American market while continuing to support nearly 90 lottery clients globally.
Big Moves for IGT in 2025
In 2025, IGT has made significant strides in expanding its global presence. In May, the company received a Gaming Related Vendor License from the General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority in the UAE.
This new license allows IGT to operate as a supplier for licensed gaming operators in the UAE, joining other major players like Novomatic and Aristocrat. This development marks IGT as the third slot machine supplier to secure such a license, reinforcing its position in the competitive Middle Eastern market.
In another major shift, private equity firm Brightstar Capital recently finalized its $1.1 billion acquisition of PlayAGS. This deal, which values PlayAGS at $12.50 per share, transforms the company into a privately held entity, with its stock set to be delisted from the New York Stock Exchange.
This acquisition follows Apollo Global Management’s $6.3 billion purchase of IGT’s gaming assets, signaling a significant restructuring in the gaming supply sector. “We’re excited to join forces with Brightstar, a partnership that marks both a pivotal moment and a transformative new chapter in AGS’ growth story,” said David Lopez, CEO and president of PlayAGS.
Brightstar has emphasized that this acquisition aligns with AGS’s impressive growth, noting that global slot unit sales have more than doubled in the past three years, while real money gaming revenue has surged over 150%.
