Brazil’s Legal Betting Market Breaks Record for Online Visits in August

The Brazilian legal online gambling market established its all-time high point in August, with the most visits ever. According to figures released by Aposta Legal, websites using the official “.bet.br” domain accounted for 2.21 billion visits in the month, above the earlier record of 2.18 billion in May 2025.

The year-over-year growth is even more astounding. In August 2024, the same batch of licensed operators recorded 761 million visits. Traffic increased by almost 190% in just a single year, a sign of how fast-growing the legal betting market in Brazil is.

Drivers of Growth

Industry experts attribute this sharp rise in activity to a combination of factors. First, the return of high-profile sporting events, like winning games in Brazilian and international football, created excitement and interest among players. Second, growing popularity in online casino games provided an added enticement for traffic over mainstream sports betting.

But another big driver has been regulatory change. Online marketers have been allowed to offer since January 2025, driving traffic to their homepages directly. All this heightened exposure, supported by high-impact marketing campaigns, has made regulated sites more well-known and grown their market coverage.

Visits Do Not Equal Bets

While the increased traffic is an indication of consumer demand, not all traffic is converted into active bet-making. Brazilian punters, according to Aposta Legal’s estimates, placed about R$300 billion worth of bets in the first half of 2025. The amount does, however, account for rebets placed using already received winnings and thus the actual injection of new money is lower.

But the participation scale indicates the huge demand for internet gambling in Brazil and the necessity to disentangle gross traffic statistics from successful betting volumes.

Official Revenue Figures

Official statistics for the industry have also been released by the Ministry of Finance. Betting companies reported revenues of R$17.4 billion in the first half of 2025 after a deduction for payments to players.

Following the excellent performances recorded in August, analysts have opined that July and August could have accounted for as much as 38% of the total revenue realized during the first half of the year. This increase represents a strong upward trajectory for the industry, set to redefine budgetary estimates and projections for the remainder of 2025.

Implications for the Legal Market

The numbers demonstrate beyond popularity. They demonstrate the ability of the regulated market to attract users who otherwise flocked to unlicensed websites. The official “.bet.br” naming scheme is now synonymous with legitimacy, boosting consumers’ confidence in fairness, transparency, and safeguarding personal data.

With more users moving to regulated platforms, the government can anticipate higher tax revenues and enhanced regulation. Concurrently, growth among legal operators emphasizes the significance of supporting responsible gaming campaigns to mitigate potential risks of over-gaming.

About Aposta Legal

Created in 2019, Aposta Legal is a website dedicated to providing genuine sports betting and online casino news. Its mission is to promote responsible and recreational betting by means of quality content targeted towards Brazilian consumers and more.

By monitoring traffic, publishing official reports, and indicating trends, Aposta Legal assists the industry in enhancing the transparency level and encouraging bettors to make responsible and informed decisions.

The August record is the tipping point for Brazil’s regulated gaming sector. With billions of visits and billions of reais of activity, the industry is cementing its status as one of the fastest-growing segments of the digital economy.

But the statistics also pose problems: operators and regulators alike will need to balance growth with consumer protection. If properly controlled, the legally allowed betting industry could not only be a recreation source but also a spur in Brazil’s economic development.
