Book of Chilli
Picture this: a bustling kitchen full of cheeky cartoon chillies, grinning chefs, and bottles of hot sauce just waiting to blow up your reels. That’s Book of Chilli by Pragmatic Play, a slot that takes the classic Book formula and gives it a serious kick of flavour. There are jackpot pots sitting right at the top and a Buy Spins option if you’re feeling impatient. And yes, that 5000x max win is real. Just keep in mind the maths behind all that fire isn’t quite as hot as the theme suggests.
Book of Chilli Gameplay and Mechanics
Book of Chilli plays out on a classic 5-reel, 3-row grid with 10 paylines that pay from left to right. It’s a simple, familiar setup that keeps things easy to follow from the first spin.
The real action comes from the features. The Wild doubles as the Scatter and substitutes for all symbols. Landing 3 or more anywhere triggers Free Spins, where you get 10 spins and pick a special expanding symbol that stretches to cover all 3 positions on its reel. Retriggers are unlimited, and you can buy straight into the round anytime.
Book of Chilli Theme and Visuals
Book of Chilli drops you into a charming upscale restaurant. Warm wood, rich reds, and a cosy vibe make it feel like your favourite dining spot mixed with casino thrills.
The look is bright and polished. Cheeky chef characters, tasty dishes, and hot sauce bottles share the reels with glossy card ranks, while jackpot displays sit up top to complete the picture.

Book of Chilli RTP, Volatility, and Betting Range
Book of Chilli comes with a 94.50% RTP, which sits below the industry average of around 96%, so keep that in mind. Volatility is medium, the max win reaches 5,000x, and bets range from $0.10 to $250.
Book of Chilli Slot Features
Book of Chilli keeps things familiar but adds its own spicy twist to the classic formula. Let’s break down the symbols, free spins, and buy feature, so you know exactly what to expect.
Wild and Scatter Symbols
The Wild symbol also acts as the Scatter and can substitute for all other symbols. Landing 3, 4 or 5 Wild symbols pays according to the Wild paytable. Hit 3 or more symbols anywhere on the reels to trigger the Free Spins feature.
Free Spins
In the Free Spins feature, you get 10 free spins. Before the round begins, you pick a symbol to become the special expanding symbol. During free spins, after regular symbol payouts, the chosen symbol expands vertically to fill all 3 positions on its reel. It pays according to its own paytable on all reels, even when symbols aren’t adjacent. Expansion only triggers when enough symbols are present for a win. Landing 3 or more symbols during the round awards 10 more free spins with the same selected symbol, and there is no limit to retriggers.
Buy Free Spins
You can instantly trigger the Free Spins round with 10 starting free spins from the base game by buying it for 100x your current total bet.
| Symbols | Description |
| High-Paying Symbols | Bruschetta, Jar of Sauce, Female Chef, and Male Chef pay between 75x and 500x the bet for landing 5 matching symbols. |
| Low-Paying Symbols | 10, J, Q, K, and A pay between 10x and 15x the bet for landing 5 matching symbols. |
What We Like
- Fiery visual theme
- Four progressive jackpots
- Buy Spins option
- Unlimited retriggers
- 5000x max win
What Could Be Better
- Below-average RTP
- Familiar mechanics
- Weak maths
Final Verdict
Book of Chilli is a fun, fiery take on a familiar formula. The bright restaurant theme, cheeky chef characters, and progressive jackpots give it plenty of charm, and the expanding symbol mechanic still delivers solid thrills for fans of classic Book-style slots. That said, the below-average RTP and underwhelming maths hold it back from being a true standout in a crowded market. It’s an enjoyable ride while it lasts, but it won’t blow seasoned players away. If you enjoy familiar mechanics with a fresh, spicy coat of paint, it’s worth a spin. Just don’t expect anything revolutionary beneath the surface.
