9 March 2026 – BetGames has released the results of a research initiative in which human hosts on a live game show were secretly replaced with AI-generated replicas. The study revealed that fewer than 30% of players noticed the change, while key performance indicators remained stable throughout the trial.
The AI hosts, created as digital replicas of real presenters, were introduced discreetly on one of BetGames’ live game shows and tested over several days. The objective was to evaluate whether AI-driven avatars could effectively replace human presenters without disrupting the player experience.
According to the findings, more than two-thirds of participants did not detect the switch. Data collected during the trial also showed no statistically significant changes in core performance metrics, including session duration, average stake size, and the number of bets placed.
BetGames reported neither positive nor negative shifts in these metrics. The results indicate that while AI avatars can replicate the role of live presenters from a technical standpoint, the technology currently offers no measurable performance benefit. As a result, the company concluded that there is not yet a compelling business case to implement AI presenters on a wider scale.
Although cost reduction is frequently considered a major reason for adopting AI solutions, BetGames said the financial advantages of AI hosts remain limited. Operating an AI presenter continuously still requires considerable resources, and generating and maintaining avatars on a 24/7 basis does not currently offer substantial cost savings compared to employing human hosts.
The company also highlighted several technical hurdles that limit broader adoption. One of the most significant challenges lies in producing realistic text-to-speech output. As AI systems become increasingly sophisticated, even minor speech imperfections are easier for users to detect.
Additional constraints include latency issues, lip-sync mismatches, and inaccuracies in real-time translation. These factors remain critical technical challenges that must be addressed before the technology can be deployed more broadly across live products.
BetGames continues to explore artificial intelligence under the leadership of CEO Andreas Koeberl, who is also the co-founder of Autonomous Minds, the company behind the AI analyst Milo. The research forms part of BetGames’ ongoing efforts to investigate emerging technologies and support the long-term evolution of the iGaming sector.
Andreas Koeberl, CEO at BetGames, said:
“AI has been building up a head of steam, but its implications in the live casino space remain largely untested. When it comes to AI presenters, we built it, it worked, and nobody cared. That raises the question of what we are actually working toward.
The technology didn’t have a positive or negative effect on the player experience or product margins, and the cost of running an AI avatar 24/7 bears no significant advantage over employing human presenters.
So, rather than trying to replace humans and simulating what already exists, focus should turn towards what AI can make possible that wasn’t before. That’s where the real value lies.”
