Today, the situation is different, with various states in Brazil working on their own lottery schemes. For instance, in Sergipe, the state lottery, referred to as Lotese, was opened in 2025 under the management of the State Bank of Sergipe, commonly known as Banese.
Maranhão has a similar service, referred to as Lotema, which is managed by Maranhão Parcerias, commonly referred to as MAPA. The re-entry of the bill into the ALBA is likely to see the state of Bahia join the list of states that are utilizing the operations of the lottery as a means of funding.
