The gaming sector in Asia is proving resilient and demonstrating more opportunities for future expansion as more integrated resorts are being developed along with increased investments in non-gaming and entertainment activities. According to Bill Miller, who is the president as well as CEO of the American Gaming Association, at the Global Gaming Expo Asia 2026 ceremony held on Tuesday.
Miller said that the industry has gained momentum, and new opportunities for growth will increase. His statement was delivered as industry experts attended the trade show organized by RX and hosted by the American Gaming Association.
Resort Pipeline Expands
Among the many major projects mentioned in his speech, Miller noted that the success of the industry could be seen from the long-term progress made in these projects. According to Miller, the project of Wynn Resorts in Ras Al Khaimah, located in the United Arab Emirates, made great strides towards its planned opening in 2027, making it one of the most global developments in the field of integrated resort development.
MGM Resorts International’s integrated resort in Osaka was another project mentioned by Miller, which is progressing well despite being scheduled for completion in 2030. According to Miller, this would prove to be a revolutionary project in the history of the Japanese tourism and gambling industry. Miller also talked about the Marina Bay Sands project of Las Vegas Sands in Singapore, which was inaugurated last year for expansion, which would also be ready by 2030.
The expansion of Galaxy Entertainment Group in Macau and Van Don in Vietnam was two more important examples of expansion and investment projects that will help determine the future of the Asian gambling industry.
Non-Gaming Drives Appeal
The AGA chief also stressed the importance of non-gaming investment in keeping destinations competitive. He said places like Las Vegas and Macau remain dynamic and diverse because of broader spending on entertainment and other experiences beyond the casino floor.
Miller pointed to Macau’s non-gaming investment in sectors such as technology, health and wellness, conferences like G2E, and sports. He said the upcoming UFC fight and NBA games later this autumn are strong examples of how diversified investment can strengthen gaming markets. His remarks tied the industry’s future not only to new resort supply, but also to wider destination-building efforts.
Additionally, he emphasized that Macau is an integral part of the international gaming community and, therefore, requires collective support from everyone in the industry. According to him, events like G2E Asia become vital in terms of ensuring the existence of the entire system of the region’s development.
Trade Show Reflects Change
Before Miller’s address, RX senior vice president JB Son highlighted that the event represented an epitome of how the evolution of the gaming industry would progress in terms of technology. He noted that more than 150 foreign brands are participating in the exhibition, alongside gaming and technology sectors. He further elaborated on the gathering of more than 100 leaders from the industries, who have come to discuss important trends in the industries.
Both G2E Asia 2026 and the Asian Integrated Resort Expo are estimated to see around 8,000 attendees in total. The accompanying expo pays attention to aspects of the integrated resort experience other than gambling, complementing the main conversation around the industry happening at the conference.
The opening statements from both Miller and Son touched on a prevalent idea at this year’s conference, which was that while the industry continues to grow, its growth narrative has become more complex.
