The AGEM Index increased by 8.2% on a month-on-month basis in June, driven primarily by the strong performance of the shares of Aristocrat Leisure Ltd., an Australian gaming supplier. The index, which is made up of selected gaming equipment suppliers’ stocks, rose by 128.94 points to reach 1,707.15.
Aristocrat Leads Gains
Aristocrat Leisure was the biggest contributor to the index’s monthly advance. Its shares rose 22.3% in June, adding 136.32 points to the AGEM Index.
The second-largest positive contribution came from Crane NXT Co, which makes industrial technology products, including items used in the gaming sector. Its share price increased 31.7%, contributing 27.95 points to the benchmark.
Five of the AGEM Index’s 9 constituent companies recorded share price gains in June, resulting in 5 positive and 4 negative contributions overall. That balance was enough to push the index higher for the month, even though several names still weighed on performance.
Konami Pulls Index Lower
Japan’s Konami Group Corp. listed stocks made up the largest drag to the index, having fallen by 6.7% in June to lower the AGEM Index by 37.50 points.
Even though the index increased for the month, it was still lower compared to the same month last year, having fallen by 10.3%, which was equal to 196.14 points, since June 2025.
This can be attributed to the fact that the performances of the index components were quite mixed throughout the month. Aristocrat’s strong rally was enough to drive the benchmark higher, but not enough to erase the wider year-on-year decline.
Broader Market Context
In June, 2 of the 3 major U.S. stock indices fell from the prior month. The Nasdaq declined 2.8% over the month, and the S&P 500 slipped 1.1%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 2.5% compared with May.
Those movements provide a broader market backdrop to the AGEM Index’s monthly performance. While the benchmark advanced, the wider picture across major U.S. markets was mixed, with only the Dow posting a monthly increase.
Index Background
AGEM produces the monthly AGEM Index in association with Nevada-based advisory service firm Applied Analysis. The trade body represents manufacturers of electronic gaming devices, systems, lotteries, and components for the gaming industry.
The index has been compiled since January 2005, using a base of 100 points. Its constituent stocks are weighted by approximate market capitalisation, giving larger companies more influence in the benchmark’s movement.
The June reading reflects both strong individual share gains and the weighting structure of the index. Aristocrat’s rise played the central role in the monthly improvement, while Konami’s decline and the index’s year-on-year fall kept the overall picture more subdued.
