Based on the report of the regulator, own goals are viewed as a bad event with a higher chance of match-fixing, such bets are prohibited. Additionally, the KSA and other national gambling regulators view placing bets on the number of own goals in a football game as a harm to sports integrity.
Following the regulator’s guide
The KSA lists bets on own goals, time penalties, Formula One car retirements, racing red flags, and player injuries as examples of “negative or easily manipulated events” in its official guidance on sports integrity. On their respective sportsbook platforms, both businesses have eliminated their own goals as a betting option, according to confirmation from the KSA. The regulator’s statement said, “The KSA has addressed both providers regarding this matter.” Own-goal bets were promptly eliminated from both Holland Casino Online and VBET’s offers.
Precautionary measures
In order to stop occurrences again, the regulator has also implemented extra control procedures. As far as the KSA is concerned, this effectively resolves the issue for the time being.
