The biggest names in the African lottery space recently gathered in Côte d’Ivoire for a critical summit hosted by the Association of African Lotteries (ALA) from June 23 to 25, 2025. This event brought together Directors General and key delegates from various countries, creating a platform for collaboration nd knowledge exchange.
On June 24, the highlight of the gathering was a high-level seminar held at the Azalaï Hotel in Marcory, focusing on “Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity.” Participants engaged in deep discussions about the opportunities and risks that AI presents within the gaming sector, while not addressing the increasing threat of cyberattacks.
The Tuesday session provided a valuable opportunity for leaders to share innovative strategies for safeguarding their operations in a rapidly evolving digital landscape. It opened with remarks from Mr. Doumbia Fassery, Vice President of ALA and Director General of PMU Mali, who represented ALA President Mr. Dramane Coulibaly. Attendees also included prominent figures like Mr. Abdoulkarim Ouattara, Deputy Director General of LONACI, who interacted with other ALA executives throughout the discussions.
The summit concluded on June 25 with the ALA’s Annual General Assembly, where members reviewed accomplishments from the past year, adopted new resolutions, and reinforced their commitment to collaboration. This gathering not only marked a significant moment for the African lottery community but also set the stage for future advancements in the sector.
The African Lotteries Association (ALA) was founded in 1981 and is headquartered in Dakar, Senegal. Its mission is to foster collaboration and partnership among its members to promote integrity, transparency, and responsible gaming practices.
